Oakdale is a small town in Kern County, California, located about 20 miles east of Bakersfield. It was founded in 1887 by Hiram W. Doane and his wife, Mary E. Doane. The first post office in Oakdale was established in 1889. The original rifle stocks company was organized in 1892 by Hiram W. Doane and John Lillis as the "Doane Rifle & Pistol Company". In 1898, the company became the "Oakdale Rifle and Shotgun Association", which still exists as a nonprofit organization today. The association hosted the first annual rifle match at Big Bear Valley Resort on November 4, 1898. At that event, over 100 shooters from all over Southern California participated. In 1903, the association changed its name to "Oakdale Rifle and Pistol Company" again due to trademark issues with another firearm manufacturer (the company's previous name had been used by another rifle stock company). In 1905, disagreements between management of both companies led to a merger of the two organizations into one corporate entity - the "Oakvale Rifle and Pistol Company" - under direction of then-president/CEO George Aiken III. This merger resulted in Oakdale becoming one of the leading firearms manufacturers in Kern County for many years to come! During World War II (1939-1945), production at Oakvale stopped entirely due to wartime restrictions on gun IMPORTATIONS! However, parts continued to be produced until 1949 when all production ceased due to lack of demand from war veterans returning home after serving their country! Today, most of what remains of Oakdale's manufacturing legacy can be found at their headquarters off Highway 66 just outside Bakersfield - where they continue making rifles and shotguns LIVE IN OAKDALE TODAY!

The city was incorporated on December 12, 1912. It grew rapidly during World War II due to its proximity to military installations and its status as a manufacturing center for aircraft and munitions production. In recent decades, Oakdale has been characterized as a "quiet town" with few major achievements outside of its residential neighborhood. The City of Oakdale was founded by members of the original Mission San Gabriel Arcángel congregation who bought 1,000 acres (400 hectares) northeast of present-day downtown Oakdale from José Ortega y Gasset in 1887 for $1 million dollars. The name “Oakdale” originated from Old English hælodh (oak), meaning “a small wooded area near a river” and dale (field), meaning “estate or plantation”; this name would be anglicized to Angeleno Heights because it coincided with Angels Camp Road which ran through town at that time Anaheim Hills Boulevard). In 1912, when Orange County was created, much attention was paid to finding land withinOrange County for incorporation because there were no towns within that county other than Irvine and Santa Ana proper. After careful consideration by commissioners from both counties regarding site selection they determined that Angeleno Heights should become the new Townsite No. 2 for Orange County – what we now know as downtown Orange County – because it had more contiguous territory than any other proposed site and also bore an excellent resemblance to Westminster Abbey where future Mayor James J.. DeAngelo first served as an usher in 1892! On December 12th 1912, our wonderful little town came into being with citizens voting overwhelmingly in favor! The following year saw some devastating wildfires raging across Southern California leaving many homes destroyed including one house on Main Street which still stands today! So great did things look promising for us during our early years that prior to prohibitionOakvale had actually erected their own water system! But alas progress can be stopped at anytime so just like every other start up story there were ebbs and flows throughout those early years...thankfully however our valiant effort against Prohibition eventually led us all the way through without issue! Of course times have since changed so much since then but thankfully we remain relatively unchanged despite undergoing several rounds of gentrification over the last 10-15 years plus numerous hurricanes…lol A possible reason why Oakledge didnt experience significant growth until after prohibition may be attributed to having no railroad access whereas neighboring cities such as LA had+. Railroads arrived subsequently providing more opportunities for businesses business activity increased along with tax revenues generated thereby stimulating further development especially given that many young people coming out of college moved here during these heady days prior to prohibition while others continued establishing themselves elsewhere post prohibition

Oakdale is a census-designated place (CDP) in Inyo County, California, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Yosemite National Park. Oakdale was founded in 1866 by members of the Methodist church as an agricultural community on the south side of San Francisco Bay. The name "Oakdale" is likely derived from "oak wood" because of its abundance of oak trees and softwood forests nearby. The first post office opened in Oakdale on December 12, 1867. The town gradually grew due to its good water supply, fertile soil, and easy access to transportation including ferries from Sausalito and Tiburon. By 1887, the town had a school and commercial buildings; a library was built in 1889; and a hospital opened in 1893. In 1902, the state legislature passed legislation that allowed for incorporation as a city within Inyo County with voting rights for residents only. On January 8, 1903, voters approved incorporation and on February 2nd City Hall was built at 124th Street and York Avenue with land donated by Hobert Sanger who also served as mayor from 1903 to 1905. The city's first mayor was James Purdy (1903-1906). Other early mayors were Jules Kornbluth (1906-1907), Harry Fenton (1907-1908), Julius Hirschhorn (1920-21), Arthur Atherton (1920-22), William Stephenson ( 1922-24), Clarence Darroweminger ( 1924-27), John Witherspoon ( 1927-29), Harry Bridges 1930–32)
Oakdale was located in the San Bernardino Mountains and first called "The Ranch" due to its high elevation. The first post office at Oakdale was established on December 6, 1876. In 1907, the town of Oakdale became an incorporated city and continued to exist as an unincorporated community until it merged with neighboring San Bernardino on January 1, 1995.
