Oakdale, California is located in Kern County, California. The population was 21,880 at the 2010 census. It is a small town of about 10,000 people near Bakersfield and Del Paso Junction. Oakdale is part of the Bakersfield–Del Paso Junction Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is also included in the Hanford Valley metropolitan area. The history of Oakdale goes back to 1864 when United States Army Captain George Cushing built an adobe ranch on what are now the east side of Route 158 and its north side across from what is now Lakeshore Drive. In 1876, A&P grocery store opened in what is now downtown Oakdale and soon became one of Kern County's most venerable businesses. In 1907, J H Lillisso Manufacturing Company began making radios and other electrical equipment in what is now the company building on Ninth Street Southwest. In 1916, Ivar Haglund grew up here and became one of America's leading architects; he designed several landmarks in downtown Oakdale including the San Fernando Church (now known as St John's Catholic Church), Tower Park (now known as Tower Place), and Higbie House (now known as Highland Park Towers). In 1924, Raymond Witherspoon set up his own winery here; it was later renamed Witherspoon & Sons Winery after him. By 1933 there were 20 wineries represented in Kern County Distilled spirits production with 9 owned by Raymond Witherspoon alone! The following year saw another milestone for Oakdale when United States Senator Hiram Johnson announced plans to create a new national park that would include much of present-day Kern County - this led to the founding of Rodeo National Monument which includes much of today's Oakdale within its boundaries

In 1894, German astronomer Karl Wegener created what is considered one of planetariums - an instrument that allowed users access to information about stars and planets from across distances like never before possible! With this technology, people began being able to explore space even further than they had ever imagined possible! By 1900, optical accessories had become very important for astronomers due to their use in identifying objects in space and providing data about our universe. Some Optical Instruments manufacturers such as Cooke & Litton manufactured components specifically for astronomy such as eyepieces (lenses), filters (to improve color resolution), mirrors (for focusing) and scientific instruments such as spectrometers (to measure energy levels). During World War II some optical devices were produced for use in radar receivers but ultimately most optics production during World War II was devoted towards military uses such as artillery spotting or fighter bombers

In 1821, American Captain John C. Fremont discovered Gold Rush Mines at Sutter's Mill and named the vicinity Sacramento after then-Governor of Alta California George Sacramento. Oakdale was incorporated as a city in 1911. Oakdale became an agricultural center during its early years but soon diversified into manufacturing and service sectors. The City of Oakdale has been a source of pride for many residents for their role in creating strong community values that have helped make this city one of the most vibrant in Northern California
