Oakdale is a city in Sonoma County, California, United States. The population was 26,569 at the 2010 census. It is the fourth-largest city inSonoma County and the county seat of Sonoma. Oakdale was founded in 1848 by Captain George Hearst and his wife Marilla Bayly Hearst as an agricultural town on the east side of Napa River. The name Oakdale derived from two small oak trees that were found on the site. In 1856, Captain George Hearst donated land for a new town to be built on the west side of Napa River; this new town became known as Oakdale after Captain Hearst's donation. The first post office in Oakdale was established in 1857 and served until 1862. In 1865, it moved to its current location near Castle Creek Road and Highway 1. By 1870, there were over 50 businesses in Oakdale with a total population of 2,000 people. During World War I (1914-18), Oakdale played an important role as one of several military training camps located within Sonoma County In 1933, following passage of California's State Constitution which defined "the people" to include all residents regardless of race or color, Mayor John Prentice authorized construction of what eventually became City Hall downtown On July 1, 1850 AD when Captain George Hearst donated land for a new town called "Oakdale", he stipulated that no white person living anywhere within it could build anything without giving up their share back to him; this right still applies today!
Oakdale is a small town in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is located about 30 miles (48 km) east of downtown L.A. and 25 miles (40 km) west of Pasadena. The first Europeans to visit Oakdale were ranch hands who came overland from Mexican Rancho Santa Anita in 1853. They named their land "San Antonio" after General Antonio Lopez de Cámpora, commander of the Mexican army that had discovered California during the Gold Rush era in 1848-49. In 1885, two brothers named John and Edward Fenton bought 640 acres (250 ha) of what is now Oakdale from José Santos Hidalgo for $10 per acre ($176 total). The Fentons farmed this land until 1916 when they sold it to Edwin Sanger who built his home on top of an old mine shaft known as Castle Rock which he used as a garage and workshop until 1922 when he moved into his present house which still stands today next to the railroad tracks donated by George Eastman Kodak Company in 1923 as part of its gift to Oakdale. Oakdale's Main Street was originally called "Castle Rock Road." In 1907, Elisha Gray completed a road bypassing Castle Rock so that Main Street could become more urbanized with stores and businesses close by for residents living near Hollywood Boulevard, Wilshire Boulevard, or North Hollywood streets between Sunset Boulevard and Vine Avenue sandwiched between those avenues. In 1925, when Orange County was created from parts of Los Angeles County, Oakdale became one side effect thereof within minutes following passage by Assembly Bill 258 (now Statute 231), establishing Orange County's governing board including members elected general districtwide instead of county-by-county basis like earlier. The new system lasted until 1971 when Riverside County was formed from portions of Orange County due to growth within that county alone since then; however, some remnants – such as Old Irvine High School – remain in place within Riverside City limits while other large developments have arisen around them such as La Jolla Village Center on Imperial Beach Highway just offshore from where OC State University sits today adjacent to Laguna Beach’s beacheside communities: Carmenita Hills on Interstate 5 north off Mission Bayou towards Corpus Christi; Oceanside Heights on I-5 south across US 1 & Arroyo Seco Parkway towards Encinitas; etc.– all creating new neighborhoods whose boundaries mirror those once inhabited by people living near OC State University’s campus only days ago! Today, much like then little has changed musically or artistically in Oakdale save for an occasional bluegrass/folk show at Euclid Hall downtown followed by Armadillo Coffee & Bakery down Castro Street behind it before finally ending up back at Armadillo Hall afterwards despite attempts made by nearby venues like Pismo Creek Tavern owner Aaron Tveitereen (& others) unsuccessfully over many years past him finally giving up after seeing how often he had difficulty getting anyone shows outside even though parking Lots A1 & A2 are available right next door directly across Arroyo Seco Parkway from his business should someone want to show up not knowing any better 😕

Oakdale is a small town located in Inyo County, California, United States. It was established in 1859 by Ira Dowling and his bride, Emma.[1] The name Oakdale has been changed several times over the years, including Oaken Dale in 1861,[2] Oakdale Place in 1892,[3][4] and finally Oakdale Community during the early 2000s. The first white person to come to what is now Oakdale was Ira Dowling, who arrived on horseback from Independence, Missouri in 1859. He built a cabin near the present day intersection of U.S. Route 395 and State Route 168. Dowling named his new settlement after himself – Oakdale (from Old English oak meaning "oak tree").[5][6] Dowling's original store became the nucleus of what would become the town's commercial center. By 1865, there were six stores operating inOakdale- four north of downtown and two south-west of it on Center Street. By 1870, there were twelve businesses operating inthe community; seven north of downtown and five south-west of it on Center Street. In 1893, when county voters approved an act giving rural Inyo County its own government,[7][8] the existing post office (established in 1860) amalgamated with that agency to form the new county government.[9][10] During much of this time period,Oakdaleturned outto be ashore resort town for people coming down to Mono Lake for fishing or sailing pleasureboats; however by 1924 most residents had returned home.[11][12][13] Growth resumed after World War II as various businesses sprung up around Highway 395: citrus packinghouses such as Sunnyside Fields near Yosemite National Park opened up along Highway 395 between 1945 and 1960; numerous housing developments followed beginning about 1970; arterial development began expanding into Oakvale starting about 1980; hydraulic fracturing began occurring at nearby Anza-Borrego Desert National Monument beginning about 2009
