The Gun Owners of America (GOA) is responsible for keeping Oakdale's firearm laws current and regulating all aspects of gun ownership within the city limits. GOA is also responsible for providing training opportunities for law enforcement officers on how to use firearms safely and responsibly. One of GOA's primary goals is to prevent crime by protecting citizens from being victims of crime themselves or having their property stolen with firearms on hand. In total, there have been more than 25 shootings that have occurred within city limits involving handguns between 2002 and 2006 alone! Of these shootings, approximately 20% were fatalities or incapacitatives as a result of gunfire wounds; however, only 2% were actually homicides!

Oakdale is a small city in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,953 at the 2010 census. It is located on the South Fork of the Kern River about 18 miles (29 km) east of Bakersfield and 12 miles (19 km) west of Merced. Oakdale is part of the Bakersfield–Merced, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named after an oak tree that grew near the original post office in 1873. The first store and school were built in 1875. In 1893, an oil well was drilled in Oakdale and production increased; this led to Oakdale becoming a town. The first fire department was organized in 1897 and the first bank opened in 1901. By 1912, there were ten businesses with a payroll of $5,000 or more and two schools teaching grades 1-8. In 1951, when Kern County became statewide as part of Proposition 13, Oakdale incorporated as an unincorporated community within Kern County without taking any property or services from Bakersfield or Merced counties for fear that these municipalities would become cities under state rules governing annexation processes at that time. In 2007-2008 construction began on what would be Oakdale's new downtown district which includes much needed revitalization efforts for both its commercial core as well as additional residential units along 5th Street between Gadsden Avenue & Elmhurst Avenue with plans to have operations begin by early 2009/2010 . This project will also include installation of public transportation options including bike paths and sidewalks throughout Downtown area making it easier for residents to get around!

In 1875, Oakdale became part of the newly created city of Fresno. The town has been through many phases of growth and decline over its history. The most notable period was during the Gold Rush era when it saw an increase in population and development. However, following World War II, Oakdale experienced a rapid drop in population due to the impact of the war on the agricultural economy. Today, the town retains a limited number of residents but continues to be important for its location as a stop on Interstate 5 and for its cultural significance.

In 1957, the old school building became home to the Oakdale Middle School which operated until 1984 when it merged with East Valley Junior-Senior High School to become one of two high schools within East Valley Unified School District. In 1966, the community voted to annex part of Hacienda Heights and form a new community known as Golden Hills which incorporated on December 3rd, 1986. When Golden Hills merged with Oakdale, all of its residents were re-classified as "Oakdaleians."
