Oakdale is located in the city of Sacramento, California. Oakdale was founded in 1885 by John L. Bayless and his wife Eliza. The economy was based on agriculture until World War II when it became an important center for defense spending due to its location on Route 66 near Chino Hills and its access to federal land east of Carson City. After the war ended, many factories closed but some continue operation such as Solulco which produces solar energy products. Today's Mayor is Donny Youngquist who served from 2002 to 2018; he was succeeded by George Pellucci who served until his resignation effective December 1st, 2019

Oakdale is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of Kern River between Bakersfield and Lancaster. The community was founded by John C. Oakdale in 1887 as a result of the construction of the Central Pacific Railroad's Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway line through Kern County. The first post office opened in 1888, and the first townsite was developed in 1889. The name "Oakdale" originated from an oak tree that grew near the original site of the town. In 1898, a school district was organized, and within five years there were several stores, two churches (one Methodist), a hotel (the "Atchison Hotel"), and one agricultural store. In 1905, Oakdale became incorporated as a city pursuant to yet another railroad company agreement which allowed for incorporation when an area had been designated for development with at least 3 blocks of land parceled out to developers who would build homes or businesses on it. By 1907 there were 11 homes/businesses built; by 1914 there were over 30 buildings including 12 schools and three hospitals). During World War II many residents served in military units such as Fighter Squadron 213 (F-5) commanded by Major General Clifford Axton which flew Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft over Southern California during 1942 - 1945; these volunteers received no formal recognition but their names are preserved on Air Force bases across California today as part of unit histories
Oakdale was founded in 1868 by Captain David W. Oakum and his wife, Martha. The couple name the town after a small oak tree that stood near their home. The first post office opened in 1870, and the first store opened in 1872. In 1916, the school district was formed, and Oakdale became part of it. In 1948,oakdale Union High School was built on what is now the corner of Naylor Road and Colorado Boulevard. In 1984, Oakdale Elementary School was built on land donated by Mrs. John Fenton to help expand education opportunities for students in the town. The new elementary school is one of two schools in the town that are still used as classrooms; the other is Westside Middle School which closed in 2002 due to budget cuts made by then-Mayor Tom Bates Jr..
