In 1821, following Mexican independence from Spain, Rancho San Fernando de las Pulgas (later called Rancho Santa Fe) was granted to Ignacio Padrón y Pacheco who built a gristmill here which served as a focus for grain production throughout much of San Joaquin County until it was replaced by an elevator at Danville in 1906; subsequent milling operations at Norocos ended whenDanville closed its doors amid competition from new mills opening up elsewhere in northern California during World War I). Noroco's post office opened on February 14, 1881 under name Oficina de Poste en Fresno County; it continued operation until it closed on October 15th 1925 due to heavy volume caused by mail being transported over long distances using horse teams instead of vehicles like cars today!
