By 2000, Norco had lost most of its manufacturing heyday but still boasted a vibrant downtown scene with several restaurants and cafes as well as some high-end shops including stores selling both local produce and imported goods alike. Noroco has seen significant recent redevelopment since 2006 when entrepreneur Gabor Laszlo bought part of what used to be an abandoned shopping mall next to Interstate 5 in order to develop it into a mixed-use development called "Citiespace". Citiespace includes housing units, offices/businesses (including a law firm), retail space (a grocery store/cafeteria combo), event space (a music festival Groundskeeper Live festival) and Eventually plans call for adding 4 MLS ("Major League Soccer") teams: one from LAFC (Los Angeles Football Club) who will play their home games at the old Army Ammunition Plant site adjacent to Downtown; one from San Jose Earthquakes who will play their home games at Candlestick Park; one from Vancouver Whitecaps FC who are expected to move up from their USL PRO affiliate – Richmond Kickers – becoming professional soccer team 2020; finally another team or group TBD playing their home matches outdoors somewhere within walking distance of Citiespace's amenities Noroco has been identified by some observers[1] as being on track to become among California's fastest growing communities over the next decade due to various aspects such as its lack of expensive infrastructure investments necessary for large-scale commercial development such as heavy traffic congestion caused by nearby Interstate 5 Exit 99A which provides access only via two ramps - one leading southbound into downtown while another leads northbound into Interstate 5 - making it difficult or even impossible for larger businesses like Sears or Walmart to operate without running afoul of government red tape; alsodrawing praise are city planners' focus on creating pedestrian friendly streetscape with wide sidewalks that encourage peoplemobilization rather than vehicle travel through busy intersections ; furthermore recent community developments attract high quality jobs opportunities which can support families despite having far lower incomes than nearby cities
