Norco, California is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 27,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Norco Chamber of Commerce has been established in 1889 and has since become one of the most influential business organizations in Norco and its surrounding area. In 1902, businessman J.P. Morgan donated land for a shopping center which became known as Morgan Plaza. In 1944, local residents Prentice Haines and his wife Eleanor founded The Norcotone Company to produce phonographs from records made on hand presses located inside their home on Third Street east of Highway 10. This company was eventually acquired by CBS Records who used it to make recordings such as "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Ghost Ship". The Norcotone Company building still stands today and can be seen from Interstate 15 eastbound near Sycamore Canyon Road (exit 265). Noroco's first professional football team was the Norco Bears (now known as the Mustangs) who played their first game on November 9th 1892 against El Centro High School under coach John 'Hoppy' Herrington with three players fromNoroco; Amedee Strouds (quarterback), Harry Dunham (halfback) and Wm. Smeaton (fullback). After playing two more games that year they disbanded due to lack of players but did manage to win a game against Bishop Kearney High School 6-4 becoming only the second team ever to win an intra school football game in San Bernardino County according to official records dating back to 1892

The Norco-Bakersfield Micropolitan Statistical Area had a population of 3,476 as of February 2015. The first European to sight what is now Norco was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on October 14, 1542 during his voyage from Mexico City to San Francisco Bay. He named it "Norton" after the home he saw in England and thought it resembled a letter N. In 1879, postmaster general John D. Rockefeller donated land for a public school system in Norco and an adjacent community called Pahrump Valley which became known asNorco Valley because of its proximity to that town. A year later, the people ofPahrump Valley organized themselves into ninety-six townships which were then divided into eight districts (northwest corner being Tooele). In 1906, Norco voters approved proposition 8 which gave them their own city charter with power over all aspects of municipal life except police and fire administration; this led to the establishment of theNoroco Police Department on July 1, 1907 by Mayor Haddon Waddell and City Councilman Jethro Hickey who also served as its first chief officer On December 2nd 1905 residents ofPahrump Valley organized themselves into forty five new townships which became known as West Los Angeles County; these same townships would be broken up again into fifty one districts (northwest corner being Carson) until 1959 when they were reorganized once more into twenty four wards (east side being Willowbrook) .
