Norco is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It is located on the banks of the Sacramento River, about 20 miles northeast of Fresno and 30 miles southeast of Stockton. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. The Norco post office was established in 1892, and was discontinued in 1914. In 1924, an incorporated town called Norco was platted adjacent to present-day Norco by J.D. Power and Company as a development for electricians working in the San Joaquin Valley. On July 1, 1935, Norco became an unincorporated community within Moberly Township when that township (then part of El Dorado County) became organized. Norco is known for its large noranda tree which can be seen from many parts of the townscape. The noranda tree is also home to what may be the world's largest rubber cockatoo restaurant/bar/ nightclub complex - The Noranda Place - and one of only a few remaining examples of early 20th century American gothic architecture in operation today outside Los Angeles County (the other being Girard College's Gothic-style building on Girard Avenue). Noroco Elementary School was built in 1927, just north of Main Street NE; it has been closed twice since then but has always been used for business purposes as well as occasional school events; it reopened on October 10th after being closed for renovation for several years beginning in 2009 .

In 1856 it became an independent city under Mexican rule before becoming part of the United States following the Mexican–American War. Norco grew rapidly during World War II due to its proximity to munitions plants and its position as a transportation hub for goods moving between San Joaquin Valley and inland cities such as Stockton and Sacramento. The war brought about increased industry in Norco, which led to strains on local resources that were onlyaddressed later in the century when more efficient methods of production arrived from outside sources. After World War II, however, Norco experienced rapid growth as new industries emerged such as telecommunications and software development; these advances have continued into the 21st century. In recent years, Norco has become known for its vibrant nightlife scene - particularly thanks to several popular bars/restaurants including La Bodega which opened in 2000 and now attracts international celebrities such as Lenny Bruce, Jay Leno, Elton John etc.; its annual "Fiesta del Pacifico" celebration featuring live music at various venues throughout downtown; and its rich cultural heritage - most notably through two major art museums: Morro Bay Museum of Art & History (founded in 1905) and Community Museum (opened in 1987). The city also features many parks - including Isla Vista Park near downtown where people can enjoy activities like swimming or picnics; Civic Center Park near Interstate 5 where concerts are usually held; Crescent City Creek Preserve located east of town off State Route 494; South Coast Open Space Reserve located south of town off Interstate 515; North Coast Open Space Reserve located north of town off Interstate 580
