Kiffin's first magazine was an eight-page pamphlet called "The Rifleman" which was published monthly. He began printing his own issues of the magazine in 1876. In 1877, John Fenton opened a small firearm store in Norco which became the nucleus around which many future gun magazines were founded. Fenton's store specialized in handguns and revolver ammunition, selling both to private individuals and to law enforcement agencies. In 1878, Fenton married Esther Purdy who also ran the store with him until her death in 1926. In 1886, Jens Nielsen opened a second firearms store on Main Street just west of town near what is now known as Fair Oaks Elementary School (now part of Placerville). The new store had an outdoor muzzleloader range that allowed customers to shoot live deer from their cars! This range helped give birth to modern handgun hunting practices as Norco became one of the premier hunting towns for deer throughout California! In 1906, Nielsen sold his business to George Wickersham who continued to operate it until his death in 1951. Wickersham was responsible for starting the largest handgun magazine publisher west of the Mississippi River with over two thousand issues issued each month! During World War II, Norco played an important role as one of Hollywood’s main film production centers due to its proximity to Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures and other major studios located nearby on movie lot 123B (now part of Norco High School). Gun stores located along Main Street served as makeshift production facilities while local residents turned out into neighborhoods all around town during filming! Many movies featuring large casts were shot at various locations including old armory buildings on State Street between Second Avenue and Third Avenue; Tryon Park off North First Street; and Parramatta Park off South First Street…all within easy walking distance of any local Gun Store! After the war ended, much of this activity shifted away from Hollywood towards developing new markets such as Las Vegas where gambling became increasingly popular among American servicemen stationed there during peacetime!
