Norco is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of California. The population was 5,813 at the 2010 census. It is one of four towns in Fresno County with a population over 10,000. Norco's ZIP code is 93701. It was founded in 1887 by farmers and ranchers who moved from central California to this area because of the good soil and warm climate. The town's name comes from Norco Canyon which bisects the town on two sides. The first store in Norco was established in 1892 and it operated out of a barn on High Street. In 1896, an enlargement of High Street led to the establishment of a second store, which became known as "the Town Hall." In 1912, another enlargement led to the construction of a three-story garage for cars that still stands today on Main Street near its original entrance. In 1932, when Norco incorporated as a city, it had only 3 residents and consisted mainly of farmers and their families who lived on farms around town or rented space from local businesses. However, within 5 years Norco had annexed 2 more villages - Tomales (founded 1907) and China (founded 1933). These annexations were designed to increase business activity in Norco while providing social services to adjacent villages that may have been too close for people living there alone or unable to take care of them adequately themselves. Today Noroco has 14 villages under its jurisdiction: Tomales (founded 1907), China (founded 1933), Millerton (1906), Ceres(1889), Lathrop(1912), New Paltz(1920), Sanger(1922)

Norco is a small town located in Kern County, California, United States. It has a population of just over 1,500 people as of the 2010 census. The name "Norco" comes from the Spanish word meaning "place where grapes are grown." The Norco grape growing region is located about 30 miles southeast of Los Angeles and includes parts of Kern, Orange, and Riverside counties. The first Europeans to visit Norco were the Spanish who arrived in 1769. They named the area San José de las Grapevines after they found some grape vines there. The first permanent residents were Mexican cattle ranchers who came to live in Norco in 1853. In 1886, an American-owned nitrate mine was opened near Norco and quickly became one of Kern's largest employers. The mine produced coal, sandstone, and other minerals for local use until it closed in 1971. In 1906, a group of local businessmen formed the Citizens' National Bank which still operates out of its original building today. Over time, many new businesses have been established within the town limits including two grocery stores (one now closed), two hair salons (both closed), three bars (all now defunct), four restaurants (two nowclosed), two schools (one now closed), and one printing shop which remains open today as a minor league baseball team called the Northridge Blues
Norco, California was founded in 1849 by Joshua Norton and his wife Anna. It became a town in 1851 and then a city in 1868. The population of Norco increased from 3,000 to 25,000 during the late 19th century and early 20th century. In 1951, it merged with the nearby towns of Redding and Needles to form the new City of Redding. In 1972, the city changed its name to Norco again.
