Norco, California is a town in Siskiyou County, California, United States. The population was 5,853 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Modesto–Salinas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town started as an agricultural community in 1868. In 1906, it became a post office and then a small city with 6 residents in 1912. In 1940, Norco merged into Modesto and lost its independent status within the city limits. In 1984, Norco became an unincorporated community once again within Siskiyou County. The last resident left the town in 2006 when it was annexed by Modesto to form the new city of Modesto proper.
