Newman, California is home to the most firearms-free city in the United States. The city passed a gun law that became effective in 2013 which makes it an unincorporated community within Sacramento County and prohibits the possession of any handguns by residents without a valid permit. With this law in place, Newman has become one of the leading examples of firearm security history in the country. Newman began as a small farming town located on the banks of the Sacramento River. In 1856, Newman was renamed after Ulysses S. Grant and grew rapidly due to its location and trade connections with nearby towns such as Sacramento and Napa. By 1910, Newman had over 1,000 residents and was considered one of Northern California's "rustic hamlets." In 1933, when Franklin D. As these threats increased in prevalence, so too did calls for stronger gun regulation laws across America. In response to these concerns, Congress passed two landmark bills – The Brady Bill Amendments which focused on increasing background checks on all handgun sales while also creating a safe harbor for individuals who could not meet certain qualifications (such as being unable to possess a weapon because of mental health issues) while also passing The Adam Lanza Prevention Act which required reporting every school shooting incident within 24 hours regardless of whether or not anyone was injured or killed

Newman is named after Newman's Chapel on the old Rancho Santa Clara Mission and it was first settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1847. The town has been slowly increasing in population since then, with 4,815 people counted as of the 2010 census. Newman is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and is home to many technology companies including Apple Inc., Google Inc., and Facebook. Newman began as an agricultural outpost known for its fertile soil and small fruit trees. By 1850, however, there were large plantations being grown here by Mexicans who had come to work on new irrigation systems that became integral to the development of Sonoma County. By 1870, Newman had become a thriving commercial center with a population of over 100 residents and several businesses including a gristmill, cheese factory, sawmill and flour mill.Today Newman still boasts some ofSonoma County’s finest farmland which produces both crops (fruits and vegetables) and livestock such as hay bales, chickens and pigs. Some notable landmarks in town include Stinson Beach Park which features beaches along one side while downtown features theaters (the First Presbyterian Church), banks (the Bank of America branch), restaurants (The Golden Gate Tavern), pharmacies (Pennywise Pharmacy)and bars/pubs (The Monitor Inn). In 1916 Donny Culp took control of The Daily Worker Newspaper from his father-in-law Harry Chandler who had run it for 30 years until he died suddenly three months later at age 71%. After Donny Culp took control he decided that the paper should be independent from New York City which led to much criticism within the media industry but ultimately helped make Newman one of Northern California’s most vibrant communities during World War II when many young men enlisted from here to serve their country overseas. Today all five original incorporations remain active in town - four churches plus two schools - making it easy for locals to get involved both administratively through township government services such as zoning enforcement or legislation affecting local businesses while also maintaining personal relationships with their community leaders via Face Book page or email correspondence

In 1872, following a drought that struck California during the winter of 1871-72, George Newman donated 1 acre (0.40 hectare) of land to become what is now known as "The Grove", home of numerous schools and other public buildings including an opera house and a hospital. In 1906, George Newman died and his children sold most of their holdings in the town to forming a family trust which continues to own it today.
