National City, California is home to one of the largest gun sights in the United States. The city was founded by American pioneers in 1849 and has been a center for firearms manufacturing and storage ever since. The first gun sight in National City was a simplegal iron post that served as a landmark to guide shooters into range. Today, visitors can walk around the old arsenal and see how much progress has been made over the years. In 1865, George Washington Carver located a mill ondefineing National City’s present-day waterfront area. This mill provided lumber for the construction of local homes and businesses. The Gunsight Mill was destroyed by fire in 1875, but it reopened soon after as a commercial business serving both National City residents and out-of-towners alike. In 1892, John Davenport began manufacturing rifles at his Arsenal Ammunition plant adjacent to the Gunsight Mill. At this time, Caliber Arms Manufacturing Company was founded with JD Davenport as president and Samuel Colt as vice president. Over time, Caliber Arms became famous for making reliable handguns such as revolvers and semi-automatic shotguns. bundles of calibers were also produced at this company including .22 caliber rimfire ammunition which quickly gained popularity among shooters during World War II because it could be reloaded rapidly without having to go back to their arsenals or waiting days for new rounds to come in stock! In 1948 John Davenport passed away leaving his company to his son Sam who continued production until 1990 when it closed down again due to economic difficulties within the industry). After 1990 Sam's sons took over management but have not yet ceased production! As of today there are still some active factories producing calibers here in National City!

In 1860, when Mexico gained independence from Spain, it claimed most of California including parts of what are now Riverside and San Bernardino counties; this region was known as Mexican Territory No. 8 (Arizona). A group of Americans led by John Sutter arrived in 1864 to claim Rancho Niguel which extended into present-day Riverside County; they called their settlement "NATIONAL CITY" after President Abraham Lincoln's inaugural address calling for "a new nation conceived in Liberty." On December 12th 1870 citizens voted favorably on incorporation into the newly formed city of Pasadena with land east of Olive Road donated by Horace Livermore On February 16th 1871 "National City Improvement Company"was organized with Wm Hite as president This company supplied water power from wells drilled near NCA & developed irrigation systems
