This business success led to many new residents moving into town over the years such as movie star Gary Cooper and his wife Norma Jean (later known as Joan Crawford). In 1957, General Motors bought a controlling interest in PGE so they were able to produce more affordable electricity than ever before making it easier for people living near cities like Detroit or Chicago not onlyto have power but also affordable prices! Today there are still several businesses that operate out of town due to PG&E's monopoly on electric service in Southern California; however, some newer businesses like Costco have started taking advantage of local renewable energy sources like solar panels and wind turbines which has helped increase jobs within the area while reducing emissions!
