The history of Murrieta can be traced back to 1839 when cattle drives passed through this area and their droves were used to start ranching hereabouts today's land includes much old Rancho Cahuilla land now part of Commerce City In 1851 two brothers who ran a stagecoach stop near what is now downtown Murrieta started raising wheat on their property which they continued to do until 1865 when they sold it to George Wirtz who built what is now First National Bank across from present day Spring Street/State Route 47 (now Wilson Boulevard) This early development led to one current business owner being quoted as saying “It’s hard work making money doing nothing but buying groceries these days!” When Ivar Pihl took over ownership in 1916 he made some changes that have stayed with his business ever since including moving the bakery out into town square and adding an ice cream parlor along with other services . Over time many businesses have been added like Jiffy Lube garage next door which became homebase for several fast food restaurants dotting Interstate 15 near exits 273 & 274 before being bought by Subway in 1984 Notable residents over time include; Mayor Curt Schilling (1948-1973), Dr. Edwin Hite (1976-1981), Donny Maggiore (1991-present)

NRA Ads began airing during this time which helped increase public awareness about the Safe Act of 1968 which prohibited any further law enforcement involvement with firearms without proper permits

Murrieta is a small town in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 5,827 at the 2010 census. Murrieta is located on the banks of the San Gabriel River and is east of downtown Los Angeles. It was founded as an agricultural community in 1887 by Mexican American ranchers led by José Joaquin Miller and their families. The name "Murrieta" comes from Spanish meaning "place where corn is grown." The original residents were primarily Anglo-Saxon Californians who came to work on the nearby San Gabriel Valley ranchlands. In 1906, most of the men in Murrieta left for other parts of California after they were employed by General Motors (GM) to build its new plant in Stockton. A few women stayed behind to raise children and became active in local businesses such as grain elevators and sawmills. By 1920, about 60% of Murrieta's residents were Mexican American; however, this percentage had decreased to 30% by 1930 because many Anglo Americans had moved away or been replaced by African Americans working on GM farms outside of Murrieta. In 1944, when World War II began with Japan's declaration of war against America, many Mexicans living in Southern California enlisted in the military to help defend their country during wartime rationing policies that targeted certain ethnic groups. Many Mexicans also worked on local farms while serving in the military or joining companies that produced goods available only through quota system administered by the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA). After the war ended and food prices increased due to fuel rationing restrictions put into effect following World War II, many farmworkers lost their jobs and started looking for ways to make money other than agriculture which made murriztas some of Orange County’s first black neighborhoods; however, these neighborhoods did not develop until after 1970 when more white people moved into Southern California during post-war Reconstruction eras
