In 1892, American astronomer Edwin Armstrong developed the Armstrong–Lichtenstein telescope which permitted people to view astronomical objects up close for the first time.
Morgan Hill, California is a census-designated place in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 15,428 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The community was founded by Orson Welles and his father on May 18, 1906 as a small town called Hingham. On October 20th of that year, Morgan Hill became a city under the name of "Hingham". After years of growth and development during World War II due to its strategic location between San Francisco andOakland, Morgan Hill exploded in population during the late 1960s when students from nearby Diablo Valley moved there to escape high tuition prices at local universities. The influx of new people led to social tensions and code enforcement issues that continue to this day. During the 1990s hip hop artist Snoop Dogg grew up in Morgan Hill and has since described it as "the most white thing I've ever heard" In recent years there have been waves of immigrants coming into Morgan Hill such as Mexicans and Asians who are assimilating into American culture while still maintaining their own cultures. Some residents have protested against this trend by calling for an end to diversity or multiculturalism within the community

Morgan Hill is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino Valley and is about 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The area that now Morgan Hill was first settled by Spanish Californians in 1769 as Rancho Verde de los Tejas. In 1875, John Wesley Hardin bought the land from the Mexican government for $1 million and named it after his eldest son, Morgan HARDIN. Morgan Hill became one of the most heavily populated areas in Kern County due to its easy access to water resources and its central location on both railroads and highways. The agricultural sector continued to be a major force until the early 20th century when automobiles started becoming popular and farms were mechanized; this led to a decline in industry and jobs in Morgan Hill. The town experienced a resurgence during World War II as many local businesses produced munitions needed for the war effort. However, economic prosperity declined after 1945 as suburban housing began taking over much of the work force near schools and other commercial districts. Today, there are still few high-level jobs in Morgan Hill but it remains an important bedroom community for Los Angeles County with a large number of retirees living there year-round.
Morgan Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pleasanton–Saleza–Danville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Morgan Hill comes from an early settler named John Morgan and his family who grazed their sheep on the hills overlooking Martinez Creek between 1847 and 1850. In 1857, Major General Nathaniel Lyon's brigade was attacking the Mexican garrison at Laguna de la Vega when they came across a small herd of sheep led by Mrs. Morgan. The general ordered his detachment to pursue and drive away the cows and children that were following behind the sheep, which led to the name being given to a hillock or slope near Laguna de la Vega where Mrs. Morgan left her herd of lambs for grazing before marching back into Mexico with her husband after finding out about American soldiers' actions nearby. In 1861, while Lt. Col George Atherton was commanding mechanized troops during the California Gold Rush, he discovered quartz veins in what is now Morgan Hill; he named one of these veins "Atherton vein". By 1865, most of this workings had been done by prospectors under Captains James McDonnell and David Boggs who also found silver along some of these veins but no gold because it wasn't accessible through ordinary mining techniques then used in California such as cake crushing or panning for coal etc.; however Gail Borden became interested in copper resources in Nevada so she shipped over $10 million worth of ore from Smithers Mine on Humboldt Bay just south of Atascadero (now known as Red Bluff) to San Francisco where she sold it off for $500 per ton at face value basis which created huge profits for both Borden and her partner Daniel Drake who moved their business headquarters from Atascadero to San Francisco proper soon thereafter becoming one of America's first major CopperKings
