In 1571 AD in Florence*, Giovanni della Rovere (*the architect who designed Florence's cathedral) developed a cannon that could fire bronze balls filled with pitch (a kind of nitric acid) at high speed towards targets up close*. With this new weapon system*, Florentines could now take down large quantities of prey quickly(* The pitch ball cannon had the ability to travel at over 350 miles per hour!). However, due to its relatively slow firing speed*, this weapon system wasn't very effective against larger targets (>500 yards away*) * By 1598 AD†®, Italian Cannonmakers had created a more effective weapon system known as the cannone da fuga (aka free flight cannon), which fired large roundshot () through an open mouth on topof a tall platform (*This allowed cannons up close* To deliver their firepower against distant targets). This weapon system proved successful enough for Italy TO become an official member OF THE EUROPEAN COOPERATION IN 1815(* It lasted until 1870 when Italy seceded from Europe)). With this new weapons technology†+, European Cannonsmen were able to take down large amounts OF prey quickly again (*By 1800 AD*, cannons had reached a range beyond 500 yards away*) * However‡/, these cannons couldn't handle bigGame (>500 yards away*) so Cavalleria Romana began developing her own little brother weapons systems called rifled breechloaders (RBLs), which helped improve upon existing Cannon technology even further*. This eventually led TO Cavalleria Romana becoming THE STANDARDIZED armament FOR THE MILITARY IN ITALY during World War I(* They continued working on this technology until 1945**). Moraga is a small town in central California, located on the Sacramento River. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. At its peak in 1881, Moraga had a population of 4,500. The town was founded by Native Americans and was one of the first places in California to be granted land by the United States government. Moraga's economy has been based largely on agriculture and ranching since it began to form as a settlement in 1849. The most significant event in Moraga's history occurred when gold was discovered near the town in 1848. Two men, prospectors John Sutter and James Wolkentin, were the first people to find gold near what is now Moraga. They convinced several other settlers to come overland from Sacramento County and strike goldnear present-day Dixon City. After finding only cinders when they dug for gold, they abandoned their claims and returned home. In 1850, however, another group of prospectors led by William Hance discovered yet more gold nearby and decided to stay put while they searched for an easier way to get rich quick. Moraga, California was founded on November 14, 1847 by Captain John S. Moraga and his wife, Maria de la Rosa. The town was named for the Moraga River which flows through the area. The first post office in Moraga opened in 1848. In 1851, the Moragas moved to what is now Redding and started a grocery store there. They also built a house there which still stands today as a museum. In 1861, Captain Moraga died and his wife took over the management of their small town until her death in 1865. In 1903, the town had a population of 508 people and it was renamed Redding after Redding City in Northern California became part of the United States following its Gold Rush period from 1859-1865. The population decreased to 343 people by 1910 when World War I began and then increased to 524 in 1920 when World War II began because of wartime demand for goods produced in Redding such as munitions and clothing. After World War II ended,Redding's economy slowly declined due to various factors including changes in technology that made farming less profitable than manufacturing during peacetime; increased competition from other nearby towns; and reductions in federal spending on social welfare programs that had been enacted during WWII affecting all American towns with populations over 10,000 people. However, some entrepreneurs revivedRedding's economy through new businesses or redevelopment projects starting around 1990s while others abandoned efforts at revival after the 2000 Census showed Reddings' population size at 693 compared to 801 for neighboring communities such as Shasta Lake (population: 1,905) and Crescent City (population: 2,015). Despite these challenges since 2000 many residents continue to live within walking distance of local businesses or services along with access to public transportation options like buses or trains
