The present-day City of Moorpark was created from portions of the former cities of Florence and Arroyo Seco on February 15, 1959. Moorpark has been known for its agricultural products since it became a city; families have used land here for growing crops since at least the 1860s. At one time there were over 1,000 acres (400 hectares) devoted to agriculture here; however production peaked only around 1910 because World War I destroyed many farms and caused a decrease in consumer demand for fruits and vegetables exported from California."

Moorpark is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Moorpark was founded in 1887 by John C. Fremont and named for George W. Moor, an early settler. The population was 11,859 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of downtown San Bernardino and is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. Moorpark was first settled by Europeans in 1847 as part of Rancho Palos Verdes and later became part of the Unincorporated community of Hidden Hills when that area separated from Rancho Palos Verdes. In 1890, after years of debate between boosters who wanted to establish a town near Interstate 10 and those who wanted to keep Hidden Hills as an unincorporated community, Moorpark was officially established as a city with its own government and police department. According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau report,[1] there are now over 20,000 people living in Moorpark proper (excluding Hidden Hills) and 30 miles (48 kilometers) around it via annexed townships including Alpine, Encino, Montclair/Bel-Air/Pasadena, Sunland Park/Ontario Park/Lancaster Heights/Rancho Mirage etc., making it one of Southern California's most suburban cities[2]. However much like other Californian cities during this time period which were also experiencing rapid growth due to increasing transportation options such as automobiles,[3], suburbs were not well received by many residents who saw their city center become increasingly congested with visitors while they remained largely isolated from everything else outside their neighborhood or town boundaries; some even effectively campaigned for annexation into nearby cities during this time period in order to remain within their own jurisdiction[4][5][6]. Despite these negative aspects about suburban growth during this time period – specifically around Los Angeles – many people within Moorpark continued to live there until recently because they believed that what they had created themselves would continue to be viable long after other parts of Southern California experienced similar changes[7]. One aspect which has not changed much since the late 1800s when Moorpark began developing is its reliance on agriculture for both food production and local support services such as watermain replacement; however today's economy has seen significant redevelopment across all sectors within the city limits since 2007 which has resulted in increased job opportunities for locals along with new housing developments being constructed throughout urban areas adjacent to downtownSanBernardino while underground utilities have been relocated out into rural areas closer to essential infrastructure; furthermore recent studies show that although manufacturing jobs have decreased overall throughout Southern California due primarilyto global economic conditions,[8] agricultural jobs have actually grown more rapidly than any other sector within Southern California thanks largely to advances made in technology used for irrigation practices[9], allowing farmers in particular access to greater profits through modern marketing techniques.[10]
