Moorpark is located in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California, about an hour’s drive from downtown Los Angeles. It was founded in 1887 by George and Mary Moor, who were "the first white people to settle there." The town had a population of 1,600 when it was annexed by Los Angeles in 1912. Gun violence has been a problem in Moorpark since at least the early 20th century. In 1919, two men were killed with shotguns outside of the local grocery store. Three years later, a man died after shooting an animal near his house. In 1925, a nine-year-old boy was shot dead while playing on his front porch. In 1933, three masked gunmen pulled up to the home of Dr. Harry Humes and shot him six times as he walked out to get his car keys. That year also saw the murder of 3-year old Norma Jean Hill in Moorpark by her father Robert Hill Jr., who thought she had been stealing candy from his home. In 1937, four men armed with pistols robbed the bank at gunpoint in Moorpark; one man killed himself as he tried to escape. In 1943, two men were fatally shot while driving down Santa Monica Boulevard; one suspect fired shots into the air before surrendering (he later died from his injuries). The most dramatic attack on gun control occurred on October 15th 1969 when five gunmen stormed into La Palma Gambling Hall and opened fire indiscriminately upon customers and employees inside; no one was ever arrested or convicted for this act of terrorism which left 28 people dead and over 100 injured across seven countries including America’s most populous city limits! On December 5th 1984 two handguns were stolen from a locked car belonging to then Police Sergeant Rickie Garcia during routine patrol operations just outside of town limits…Three days later another handgun was taken from patrol vehicle parked next to school property off Newport Avenue….On January 8th 1985 three handguns were taken from an unlocked car parked at night off Vinegar Flat Road…..A few weeks ago we noticed that someone had broken into our safe within our church office—-this type of crime is becoming more frequent these days because people are now more comfortable carrying firearms openly around without having any fear or security concerns

Mines produced valuable minerals such as copper, silver, lead and zinc which led to several businesses being established in Moorpark including Gildenheimer’s saddlery store (now known as Black & Decker), Mrs. Bearer’s grocery store (now known as Barnes & Noble), Lyle’s hardware store (now known as Lowe’s) and Jonsell & Snively Buick dealership (now M&M Ford). The post office was established at present day Moorpark on July 14, 1881 by Wm Fenton with one letter service. In 1907 it merged with the neighboring community of Ontario to form a single municipality called “Ontario” which still exists today within San Bernardino County proper but without its namesake city center annexed into it by way of annexation in 1984.. One important event that took place during this time period occurred when Drabble Chevrolet opened its doors just north of town on Ulysses Drive across from White Sands High School after years of efforts by local trucker/driver Carlos Alvarez who had started driving his own rigs out to mining ventures all over Southern California starting with digs at Leroux Mine near Blythe Lake while working for US Steel Corporation trucks hauling ore back east to their plants near Pittsburgh PA where they were smelted down into metallic steel products such as locomotives coaches cars etc...
