In 1936, the city annexed part of Diamond Ranch to become an addition to its borders; this annexation created a small village called Diamond Bar within Moorpark boundaries. In 1957, the City of Moorpark annexed more territory from Diamond Bar to form an even smaller village called West Canyon Park on its western border. The population of both villages dropped significantly over time due to changes in demographics and development within the larger city limits; however, they still maintain contact with one another through various forms of communication including email and other electronic means.
