The City of Moorpark is located within the Greater Vernon Hills area and is bordered to the north by Rancho Mirage and to the south by Fontana. The history of Moorpark can be traced back to 1868 when prospectors discovered gold in what is now known as east Riverside Avenue. In 1882, a group of businessmen decided to establish a town called "Moorpark" on the site of present-day Moorpark. The first post office opened in 1885, and the town's first incorporation occurred in 1886. The name was changed from "Moor Park" to "Morgantown" in 1907 after an influx of settlers from northern California who had discovered valuable citrus orchards thereabouts. By 1920, Morgantown had become one of Southern California's largest cities with over 100,000 residents. In 1924, development began on what would eventually become known as North Glenview Drive which ran through downtown Morgantown and became one of America's most important shopping districts during its heyday in the 1920s and 1930s. Today North Glenview Drive still remains a major thoroughfare for locals and visitors alike commuting into downtown Morgantown for shopping or visiting family/friends. Some of the more notable stores that have been located along North Glenview include Macy's (1924), Sears (1928), JCPenney (1929), Woolworths (1930), Kress (1931), Bamberger's Department Store (1963) and finally Bob Henson Shoes being founded in 1984 as part of Sears Holdings Corporation today known as Sears Holdings Co., Inc.. During World War II, much employment took place within Morgantown due to its proximity to Los Angeles Air Force Base where fighter planes were manufactured while other war-time jobs included munitions production at nearby Beaumont Army Ammunition Plant also located just outside town limits at that time! After 1945 many businesses closed down due to economic restructuring however some such as Bob Henson Shoes remain active today continuing their legacy as one of America’s leading shoe retailers prior to closing their doors for good approximately 25 years ago this past November 26th 2009!

Moorpark is a town in Kern County, California, United States. Moorpark was founded in 1887 by John S. and James L. Moorcroft. The population was 21,471 at the 2010 census. The town is located on the eastern edge of the Mojave Desert and lies within the Mojave National Preserve. The first white settlers to Visitacion Valley were John Sutter and George Catherwood in 1847-48. They found an area of Los Padres National Forest that they named "Moorpark" after their home town of Moorcroft, England. In 1857, David Hahn sent a party of men overland from San Bernardino County to explore what lay beyond the Great Basin. On July 4th, 1857 Hahn's party discovered a large valley with several water sources and built a small cabin thereon called Rancho de las Animas (later renamed Rancho Toluca). They also discovered two small mountain ranges to the north and east of their location which they named Mount Whitney and Mount Shasta respectively; these mountains remain as part of present day Moorpark. In 1880–81, Jens Jensen prospected for silver near Coyote Hills and soon realized that he had struck it rich when he found 6 tons (10 quintals) of silver nuggets while processing coal at his mine near Alma Mines on May 7th, 1880 (). He sold all his holdings in Coyote Hills to land developer Wm Folsom for $5 million (). According to historian Harry Araziano: "If there ever was one man who made money off mining operations it was Jens Jensen." By 1886 Jens Jensen had developed an extensive smelting operation at his Coyote Hills Mine yielding 579 troy ounces or 20 kgs (38 lb) of silver per day (). His production helped drive prices up from $0.50 per weight impurities to $2 per ounce by 1893 (). The increased output enabled him to build up a large stock of equipment required for further Exploration () including such items as mules (), shovels (), hammers (), picks (), crowbars (), dredges ()and sawyers () which would be used during future strikes for extracting additional silver from local formations(). In 1886–87 gold seekers Tom Doherty and Ned Kelly stumbled upon some abandoned mines about 8 miles southeast of where Moorpark now stands while out exploring Arizona Territory through Oregon Country (); Kelly became bogged down trying to cross an uncharted stream so Doherty took advantage and pounced on him with his rifle wounding himseverely (). This event led directly to American entry into World War I; becauseof this skirmish troops stationed around Oregon arrived in late 1914 just in time for America's entry into war on April 6th (). After America entered World War IDOVERBUSH NATIONAL PARK - across the street from where Moorpark now sitswas established as part Of newly created national park system under president Woodrow Wilson on November 1st 1916 . Moorpark started life as a farmers’ market town that grew rapidly due both to its location next door To Mineral Wells turned oil wellfield(renamed Kern County oil field), burgeoning auto industry nearby(1915), jobs available being generated by new discovery along Railroad Avenue eastward Known then as “the Big One” followed by other important discoveries throughout history including Comstock Lode zinc mine & black shale gas field etc., many people working together got things going like post office 1913-1920s run by Mrs Gertrude Phelps Dodge; First Deputy Marshal 1915-1920s; First Female Sheriff 1923-1929; School District Superintendent 1907-1911; Town Clerk 1912-1920s among others
