Montclair, California is a city in Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 25,671 at the 2010 census. It is the fifth-largest city in San Francisco County and the second-largest city in East Bay County. Montclair is also the most populous municipality within City of Oakland. Montclair's history goes back to 1849 when it was part of Rancho Seco Mexican land grants given to José Castro and Manuel Nieto by Governor John Steinbeck. In 1872, Montclair became part of the newly established City of Oakland. When Oakland was dissolved as a result of incorporation into San Francisco on April 1, 1896, Montclair continued to be an enclave within its limits. The post office at 256 Main Street (now known as US 101) opened in 1873 and remained open until 1943. The first store in town was built on Second Street (now called Clay Street). The first school in town was built on Webster Avenue near where Northgate High School now stands. The first telephone line went up in 1895 from Telegraph Hill to Montclair– via South Fremont Avenue (now I-880). In 1915–16,monterey Park Municipal Utility District services were transferred from Newark Junction across Racetrack Road into what is now Downtown Montclair after annexation by that community; this move saved downtown Newark from being annexed as well during that process because then there would have been no water supply for Newark residents living east of Racetrack Road or west of Piedmont Boulevard which would have been lost due to federal funding allocation changes at that time. In 1951 new zoning regulations restricted development east of Piedmont Boulevard while allowing development west thereof; this change resulted in much commercial growth within today’s boundaries of downtown since those areas are still zonedresidential with some light industrial activity located there outside the residential areas currently comprising most of downtown Montclair’s single block area bounded along Eighth street southward to Randolph road eastward including all or nearly all acres lying between Brush and Pine Streets eastward including all or nearly all acres lying northward thereof acquired subject thereto by condemnation proceedings commenced before me on November 8th instant 1961 pursuant to section 2106(a)(2) ol cienega park district ordinance

Montclair is a small town in Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 9,853 at the 2010 census. Montclair is one of the oldest villages in the Bay Area and it has been an agricultural center for centuries. In 1849, a group of investors founded the First National Bank of Montclair and soon afterwards built up a large rancho east of downtown. The town grew slowly until the early 20th century when waves of new immigrants arrived, most notably Germans in 1906 and Irish1915. By 1930, there were only 1,000 residents living in Montclair Village while 3,000 people lived in the surrounding rural areas. Many businesses closed during World War II as manufacturing shifted to other countries but some continue to operate today including Giselle's Pizza & Pasta (now known as Papa John's Pizza), American Legion Post 810 (now known as The Salvation Army), and Montclair Cinemas which screens independent films from around the world on its main theater complex located near Main Street. The post-World War II years saw intense growth forMontclair with many new businesses opening up such as Wells Fargo bank who moved from their original location on Third Street into what is now South Park Place before expanding into other parts of town such as North Park Place and East Side Plaza. For many years after WWII there was not much growth visible on either side of Main Street with only modest residential development taking place; however over time this changed with more than $100 million being invested by developers throughout various phases over two decades which has led to more than 12,000 Jobs being created directly or indirectly within the community since 2002 alone! In recent years there have been several big announcements made regarding development plans for Downtown Montclair including: 1) A mixed use project called Grand Central that will consist of an office tower/retail complex along with housing units above ground level; 2) A new park adjacent to Interstate 580 that will feature a variety of sports fields, walking paths and restaurants; 3) An expansion (largest ever) for Stinson Beach High School which will include additional classrooms and administrative offices; 4) A major renovation project for Veterans Affairs Medical Center which includes addition of nearly 30 classrooms and 10 cardiovascular surgery suites; 5) New construction announced for much needed renovations to Midtown High School pilling out surface parking lot across from City Hall just east off I-580 - this development would create up to 350 jobs opportunities! As can be seenmontclair is clearly experiencing rapid growth both nationally& internationally with many new projects underway& continuously growing demand from numerous sectors which creates opportunity both inside & outside our community
