Montclair, California is a town in Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 27,868 at the 2010 census. It is located on the border of Oakland and Berkeley. The first magazine in Montclair was called "The Rifleman" and was published monthly by H.H. Savage from 1873 to 1874. The second magazine was "The Pistolero" and it was published quarterly from 1875 to 1880. In 1881, Wm. Bower founded "The Arsenal" which became one of the leading gun magazines in America for its articles on firearms and ammunition as well as its annual rifle matches that attracted high-profile participants such as Ulysses S Grant and Abraham Lincoln. From 1892 until 1919, "The Arsenal" also published a weekly journal called "The Frontier". In 1924–27, Houghton Mifflin Company bought out Wm.'s interest in "The Arsenal". In 1929–30 they purchased the journal's rival title "National Firearms News". Wm.'s son Hoyt Mifflin continued running both titles until his death in 1980; then their sister Harriet ( Higgins) took over editorial control of "National Firearms News." In 1984 she sold it to NFA Publications Inc., which continues publication today under the name Gun Issues Magazine/. In 1949–51 Montclair resident Julius Nyquist established an armory named after him with help from Frank Ziegler at Pfeffer & Hellergunshot Emporium (later known as Palazzo Arms). This armory served as a center for shooting sports programming including air rifles trials and target shooting events throughout California before ceasing operations in 1979 due to financial difficulties.. In 1984 Bob Kapp started publishing another rifle magazine called NRA Western Gunners since World War II veteran Dave Barnes had stopped publishing his old military journal USMC/NRA Western Gunners because he felt that Kapp's approach represented a more balanced perspective than Barnes' unilateralism.. Kapp left NRA Western Gunners after only two years when he decided to start his own publishing company instead., but NRA Western Gunners continued publication until 1992 when it merged into Bob Kapp's new company National Tactical Press Incorporated (NTP). At NTP there were three main publications: NRA Shooting Times (the flagship issue), American Shooter (formerly muzzleloading Reloading Illustrated), andTactical Hunter(a hunter/outdoorsman forum). Each issue typically carried 6-8 ads per page plus 4 or 5 Technical Articles written by experienced shooters from around the country who covered all aspects of hunting/target shooting including handguns, shotguns, rifles etc... After NTP merged with RICUSA USA Incorporated in 1997 pistol owner Bob Kapp changed all 3 titles back to 'Gun Issues Magazine'/'National Tactical Press'. As of 2009 there are now 11 issues per year print run totaling approximately 100 pages with up to 12 ads each page!

Montclair's downtown area has three blocks of Midtown business district between First and Second Streets and two blocks of Cliffside Heights on Isabella Avenue. The name "Montclair" derives from English place-name New Argenti or New Argentinum which means "the new land," but no such land existed in what is now Contra Costa County when founded by Captain George Montague in 1847. The present day City of Montclair was platted in 1871 as a result of an agreement with Rancho Pinole and it grew rapidly due to its location near San Francisco Bay and easy access to Interstate 80. In 1927, during World War II, General Douglas MacArthur used Montclair as his headquarters for several weeks while he was commanding American forces in Japan. In recent years, many businesses have moved out of downtown into Midtown or other areas within walking distance; however, high-quality restaurants remain headquartered in Downtown Montclair. With over 350 years of history behind it, Montclair still offers something for everyone who visits – including some top attractions that are not easily accessible from any other part of town: Checkerboard Hills Golf Course (just outside the boundaries), Shopping Center at Mountain View Corporate Park (a shopping mall located inside Googleplex), Delaware Park Zoo (the largest zoo east of Los Angeles), Morningside Heights Community College District (includes courses leading to certificates/licenses at all levels) as well as public libraries system with over 100 branches throughout town - making it one stop for education anywhere within easy reach!

This plant made possible the growth of downtown Montclair and other areas of the town. The plant also helpedestablish family-owned businesses in Montclair. Since then, Montclair has undergone several changes that have contributed to its current success. In recent years, the town has become increasingly diverse with more people coming from outsideof their traditional districts in order to succeed in business and culture here. Montclair is a city in Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 26,914 at the 2010 census. Montclair grew to be one of the largest and most populous cities in East Bay County before it merged with Oakland in 1999. Montclair is located on the eastern edge of downtown Oakland and includes much of what is now ethnically black Montclair Township. It borders east on Telegraph Hill to the south and west on Lake Merritt to the north. The first permanent settler in what became Montclair was Nicholas de Solaon, who arrived from Portugal in 1821. He built a cabin around 1825 near the present-day intersection of High Street and Elm Street. In 1827 he married Maria Menendez, daughter of José Mendez y Arregui, an early Spanish settler in this area who had come from San Francisco two years earlier. Salomon Halliday purchased de Solaon's cabin site in 1830 and began building a house there which he named "Alamo". In 1835 Anthony Kearny bought land west of Alamo from Salomon Halliday for $1 million dollars; Kearny would build much of downtown Oakland including its first building—the old City Hall—and create what would become known as Jack London Square – starting with Lot 6 (now Webster Avenue) across Cook Road from his ranch home at 5th & Mission Streets. Kearny also founded what is now Berkeley College; part of his land lay within today's Civic Center district bounded by Webster Avenue (north), Irvington Avenue (south), Durant Boulevard (west) and Market Street (east).
