Montclair, California is a city in Alameda County, California. It is the largest city in Contra Costa County and the second-largest city on the East Coast of California. The population of Montclair was 81,821 as of 2010. The Montclair Rifle and Pistol Club (MRPC) was chartered in 1892 by John D. Rockefeller and others at a meeting at The Masonic Temple on Park Avenue in Montclair. The MRPC met twice monthly until 1915 when it moved to its present location on Weiser Street adjacent to Central School District No. 1. In 1916, Fred Sennett became president of the MRPC after leaving his position as vice president of Winchester Repeating Arms Company and becoming acting president because Drury had been impeached for bribery during World War I; however, he resigned after only two months due to health reasons. In 1920s and 1930s there were membership reductions due to World War II gun confiscations which resulted in many people being drafted without proper firearms permits or having them confiscated by the government at gunpoint while they were being taken into custody or incarcerated; this led some members of the NRA who were active within NRAHQ during these times (particularly James Wittenberg) to form their own organization called "The National Firearms Association" which eventually merged with NRAHQ in 1969 under then-president Nelson Aldridge's leadership. In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower signed Executive Order 9269 calling for all Federal departments and agencies to take possession of any firearms that may be found without proper owner/driver’s license or registration within 90 days following proclamation by his secretary of defense finding that such weapons are essential for national security purposes. This order also authorized seizure of any firearm not currently registered with any department or agency where it could be determined that such weapon would be lawfully possessed by an individual lacking appropriate licensing or registration privileges with that department or agency. A total confiscation operation took place resulting in the seizure of approximately 60 percent (.30 caliber pistols alone)of all handguns seized from Federal citizens from January 1955 through December 1957 inclusive! Atomic bombings began on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6th 1945 which caused widespread destruction throughout Japan including Montclair; this event led to increased restrictions placed upon guns ownership across Japan beginning September 1945 making it one year before effective importation limits set regarding guns would go into effect effective February 1946 despite efforts by supporters including Mayor Clarence Whitehead who lobbied successfully against those importation limitations during his term as mayor from 1945-1949). As a result, handgun ownership skyrocketed both among Japanese nationals living outside Japan as well as American citizens living inside Japan starting immediately following Hiroshima bombing according to FBI data published between 1951-1964 inclusive althoughGun Ownership studies conducted prior thereto have generally shown little change since then! It should be noted that even though effective importation limits went into effect pursuant to Executive Order 9269 starting February 1946 despite lobbying efforts by Mayor Clarence Whitehead - handgun ownership did not return to pre-Hiroshima levels until sometime after 1968 when several new laws & regulations began coming into effect gradually increasing restrictions AGAIN contrary once again specifically targeting Americans rather than Japanese nationals!

It became an incorporated community on July 1, 1916. The name "Montclair" originated from a remark made by John D'Arcymont about the beauty of a wooded area near his home: "Now I see why they call it 'The Meadows'. There's no mistaking that place." In 1924, Montclair began to make rapid strides forward as a commercial center due to its location on Interstate 880 between Oakland and San Francisco. In 1941, Montclair became home to the United States Naval Air Station(NAS) Monterey Bay which was later converted into Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBLH). In 1957, JBLH merged with NASDAQ/ERS Mountain View to become Joint Base San Diego-Carlsbad (JBSA). On December 12th 1978 JBSA changed its name back to Montclair Naval Air Station(MANS). Mansfield Elementary School was our first school open to students on December 12th 1978 followed by Northmont Middle School on January 6th 1979 then High School on January 13th 1979. On February 25th 1981 we had our first graduation class for MANS students! Today Mansfield Elementary School and Northmont Middle School are closed but their classrooms will be used for new housing development called "Montclairs". In addition there are now two high schools - Eastside High School and Westside High School - both located within walking distance of Mansfield Elementary School and Northmont Middle SCHOOL respectively. All three schools offer various extracurricular activities such as soccer, baseball, dance & Drama Club etc... Additionally there are numerous businesses located within walking distance including several restaurants including Panda Express ($) ( adjoining Parma Pizza), Dunkin Donuts ($) ( adjacent Starbucks ), Chipotle Mexican Grill ($) ( adjacent Subway ), KFC ($) ( adjacent Pizza Hut ), Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen ($) ( adjoining Domino's ) among many others! On August 5th 2017 we celebrated our centennial year!!! We have accomplished so much over these 100 years!!! Thank you all for your support!!!
