In the early 1900s, Modesto was a small town in Northern California. The population was only around 10,000 people and most of the residents lived on farms or in small towns near the river. However, there were also some people who started to manufacture firearms. One of these people was William Hickey, who started making pistols and revolvers in 1896. At first, these guns were made for local law enforcement officers and frontier hunters. However, soon enough, Hickey began to sell his guns to other individuals as well. In 1903, he opened a shop in Modesto called "Hickey's Firearms". This store became one of the most important gun stores in Northern California during this time period. The popularity of handguns quickly spread throughout Northern California during this time period. People started to buy these weapons for their own use as well as for protection from other individuals or groups. It is interesting to note that even though handguns were originally designed for single-shot shooting purposes, they soon became popular among farmers and other common citizens because they were easy to carry and shoot. Throughout the years, Hickey continued to produce high-quality handguns which continue to be popular today. He alsoprovided excellent customer service which has helped him maintain his reputation over time. In 1961, William Hickey passed away but his legacy continues on through his company and customers alike!

This type of economy has been growing over time as more people move into areas such as southern California for work opportunities or for easier access to education than they could find back home in their hometowns

Modesto was founded in 1867 by a group of pioneers led by Captain George Goodwin and his partner, John Sutter. The town was named for General John A. Dyer, who had helped to found the city of Sacramento in 1859. The first post office was established in Modesto on October 20, 1868. The first store in the town opened on December 1, 1868. In 1870, the First Baptist Church was built and remains one of Modesto's most iconic landmarks today. In 1893, the railroad arrived inmodesto and began serving the town; this changed things for the better as business boomed. By 1907, Modesto had become an important transportation center with its own station on both Northern Pacific Railroad and Southern Pacific Railroad
