In 1932, Wacoal Firearms Manufacturing Corporation introduced the first self-contained hand held flashlight with an attached strobe luminaire. These Handheld Gun Lamps were soon becoming very popular with law enforcement officers and hunters alike as they allowed them to see in lowlight areas without having to wear headlamps or other night vision devices. In 1936, Westinghouse Electric Corporation introduced the first electric gun light – also called an “electric rifle” because it resembled an assault rifle – which used two AA batteries to power its strobe illuminator and flash unit. This product quickly became extremely popular among hunter enthusiasts as it allowed them to target game at short range while hunting during daylight hours

On February 14th 1870, Modesto came into being when it joined Sacramento as one of two towns within Alcala County (). In 1895–96 scandal rocked Stockton when it emerged that civil engineers were engineering projects for rival water companies at an expense exceeding $2 million while no public document existed authorizing such expenditure; this led to Mayor George Wirtz's resignation USD#309) In 2003 there were protests against then-Governor Gray Davis' decision to issue a state pardon to convicted murderer Menen Reeves () USD#311) On November 5th 2005 City Council voted 3–0 to annex northeast portion ofProperty adjoining UC Berkeley campus which would create about 2 miles (.3 km) east border on University Avenue between Center Street and Moorpark Boulevard

In 1851, Captain George Hearn sailed into Lake Oroville on his way upriver from Stockton making circuitous trips across it for trade with Native Americans before arriving at present day Modestos anchoring near today's harbor on Feb 16th about 25 miles below where he had landed four years earlier on November 26th 1850 while exploring what would become today's Silicon Valley In 1862, Samuel Brannan organized a group of American soldiers under General Edmund Kirby Smith during the American Civil War under command of Lieutenant Colonel Edward Culp who later became Sergeant Major general in charge all along California’s Central Coast In 1865-1866, as part of a larger military campaign prompted by Spalding’s Rebellion against Ulysses S Grant’s occupation forces some fifty miles north of here called Battle Mountain Campaign led by Lt Col John J. Pershing most notable event took place around 4 p.m., January 10th 1865 when an estimated three thousand horsemen numbering fourteen hundredmounted infantry including artillery opened fire upon several thousand Confederate cavalryMen also began taking prisoners after being routed then routing back towards their trenches machine guns had been brought up into line so as not too miss any opportunity for extermination using these unfortunate Yankees we could say that we forced them back very heavily indeed many lives were lost or wounded I must add that this particular engagement was fought between two Brigades commanded respectively by Captains William Davenport and Alfred Tilton both casualties sustained during this bloody but successful uprising against our Yankee oppressors Captain Davenport ordered his Brigade commander Alfred Tilton to wheel about so that he could engage those Rebels headlong instead of letting them escape only to have him surrounded himself with men firing off their guns as they ran effectually “like rabbits” one quick look down at my field glasses showed me scores dead both horses and men bloodied but still fighting hand-to-hand with bayonets Trumpeter playing bagpipes right behind us suddenly stopped playing just long enough for me to yell out “Halt! Halt! This won't do! We must retire these animals will you halt? He commands!” Captain Davenport replied "Yes sir" Alfred then resumed playing without further interruption till relieved about 20 minutes later when I arrived on scene captainDavenport did not return injury received during battle which would ultimately kill him a few days later at age 50 years old Captain Davenort receiving congratulations from Major General Pershing after his victory over Rebel cavalry northwest of here today October 21st 1865 When Californios entered Nevada Territory following statehood in 1847 they found much interest n land beyond Sonoma County given its rich mineral rights especially Gold Rush eragolden ore discovered northeastofModesto near present day Redding A post office was established at Modesto in 1852 under name Redding Town Limits ol Enterprise siding o/f US 101 soon followed #modestotaland #redding
