The first people to live in Mission Viejo were Mexican fur trappers who arrived around 1820. They named their small village "Pueblo de las Conchas" (Creek Pueblo). The first mission built there was Santa Rita del Rey (The Queen's Domain), which served as the parish church for Alta California Province until 1834. In 1846, when Mexico became a republic, Governor Manuel Micheltorena ordered all Catholic churches throughout Mexicali and Baja California to be closed because he believed that Catholicism was a tool used by Mexico's enemies to subvert the people. A few priests defied Micheltorena and continued service at some of these churches while others left for safety or exile in what would become known as La Villa Negra (Black Villages). In 1853–1854 José Joaquin Mora y Aguilar founded "El Obispo de los Padres Francisco de la Cerda" (Pope Francis' Priest hospital) as an attempt to keep Catholics from leaving for fear of religious persecution back home; however, this also failed because not many immigrants wanted to affiliate with aMexican organization rather than continue living among Mexicans. Mora y Aguilar returned to America in 1855 and established El Camino Real de Tierra del Fuego (the Pacific Railway), which linked San Francisco with Mexico City through Yuma Crossing; however, because this road ran through rural areas that were difficult to reach by wagon or stagecoach itfailedto bring large numbers of colonists overland from southernMexico into northernCalifornia during this early period ofCalifornialocation growth."missionviiejo-photos-1

While some believe that rifles were initially equipped with simple wooden or metal sights, others assert that the first true, high-quality rifle scopes were created in the early 1700s. Regardless of which version is correct, rifle scopes enjoyed a brief popularity during the 18th century before disappearing from American arsenals entirely. Rifle scopes originated in Europe as an adaptation of crossbows’ existing optics devices. By 1795, however, rifle telescopes had largely replaced crossbow eyepieces as the standard sight device for military rifles in most European countries. Mission Viejo is a city in San Diego County, California. The population was 65,827 at the 2010 census. Situated on the eastern edge of San Diego County on Interstate 10, Mission Viejo is bordered by Carlsbad to the north and east, Midway to the south and west, and Garden Grove to the southwest. The first Europeans to visit what is now Mission Viejo were Spanish missionaries in 1769. In 1821 Mexican land grants were made including Rancho Seco de la Mesa which included what are nowMission Viejo and part of Carlsbad. On October 15, 1828 Mexican nationals Jurimaco García and José María Lugones erected a Franciscan mission church on land grant for $2,500 from Pio Pico (1788-1865). The original edifice still stands today as Mission San Fernando Rey de los Angeles National Monument. A second phase of construction began in 1836 with an addition of a Presidio adobado (Fort) complex with walls surrounding an inner courtyard that served as a market square for trade goods brought into Mexico City by traders from inland villages along missions such as Loreto, Friar Juan Bautista Laguna, Santa Barbara de las Pulgas y Nuestra Señora del Carmelo (later Santa Ana), Solano and San Gabriel In 1850 it was reported that there were over 30 families living in Mission Viejo; however most likely only 10 or 12 people lived permanently in the town due to forest fire risks around 1800 when Missions burned down nightly during ranchero conflicts between farmers/rights holders and nomadic cowboy herdsmen/cowboys who did not want their property taken away by richer ranchers seeking timber concessions near present day Vista Hermosa & Escondido A new presidio was built adjacent to Fort Davis after its completion in 1851 but never used because it became fully engulfed within Pasadena Municipal Limits soon after In 1872 land grants totaling 174 acres were given including parts of present day downtown Mission Viejo by Governor Edward Castro following his decision to annex all of San Diego County . The site eventually became known as Embarcadero Park after being developed as commercial areas near Point Loma beginning in the 1920s . Numerous small businesses grew up along this stretch including Wernham’s Pharmacy which remains open today at 5th Avenue & Harbor Drive . After years of development various hotels have been constructed Downtown such as Regency Plaza Hotel ; Marriott Marquis Torrey Hills - also one of few buildings left standing from original Miramar Casino redevelopment project;Embarcadero Center Hotel - completed in 1984 replacing Prior hotel demolished during redevelopment; Palace Station Hotel - completed in 1986 replaced old Save Mart store located across Harbor Drive from current Regency Plaza Hotel; Golden Nugget Marina - opened summer 2009 next door to EmbarcadERO CENTER HOSPITAL
