In 1929, the Heizers sold their farmstead to John Sutter, whoslavered it until his death in 1943. During World War II, Millbrae was used as a military base by the United States Army. After the war, Millbrae reverted back to its original agricultural purpose. The Heizer family remains involved with milling and agriculture to this day. The oldest of Millbrae's three churches is dedicated to St. John's Lutheran Church, which opened its doors on October 3, 1887. The other two churches are First Baptist Church (opened December 8th, 1909) and Methodist Episcopal Church (October 1st 1912). Today both churches are active Brick & Mortar congregations with over 350 members! The first post office at Millbrae was established on November 10th, 1888. It operated for six months before being moved to another location due to difficulties with communication between Millbrae and Sacramento County during that time period. The current post office building was built in 1923 and still serves as our primary facility today!
