In 1916, the first gas plant in Contra Costa County was built here by American Gas Company with an initial capacity of 3 thousand barrels per day. A second plant followed in 1951 with an additional 15 thousand barrels per day capacity; both plants remain active today as industrial power sources for local businesses and residents alike. The townspeople were so supportive during World War II that they honored their military members who had served with distinction by erecting a war memorial to commemorate them within theirown community hall – now known as Victory Hall – as well as an Air Force barracks adjacent to it on California State Route 9W (now Interstate 680). Since its inception, Millbrae has seen countless changes both inside and outside its borders: agriculture has been replaced by technology; many locals have transitioned into new vocations; while some have left for greener pastures around the world; but most residents have always tried to keep things "normal" despite occasionalChanges that are sure to affect any community some time or another: like when CenturyLink moved its headquarters from Hercules to Fremont before finally relocating back to Millbrae in 2007 after over twenty years away!

The mill Seeley & Sons ran for many years in Millbrae. It was located on the banks of the Don River, about a mile from present-day Millbrae Boulevard. In 1907, John Geddes built a new mill on the same site, which became known as Geddes' Mills. The mill served both local and national markets until it closed in 1951. Since then, many businesses have operated in the mill district including Butterscotch Baking Company, First United Methodist Church (now a Baptist church), and numerous restaurants and stores. In recent years, however, there has been an effort to revive the mills and their surroundings by creating various programs that promote heritage tourism around Millbrae. One such program is "Millbraefest," which takes place every fall during Homecoming weekend at First United Methodist Church in Millbrae. Other events that have taken place over the past few years include "Bakewell Days" on October 24th and 25th each year; "FamiliesFest" on November 3rd; "Open House Weekend" on April 7th through 11th; and most recently “Celebrate America” weekend on September 17-23rd!
The community of Millbrae was founded in 1887 by Williston Cutter and his wife, Hilda. The first store was a small hut on theranch where they raised chickens. The Cutter family farmstead operated until 1951 when it was sold to James A. Burt and his wife, Marie. In 1957, the town got its name from the mill that was located about one mile south of their property. The mill produced flour for local markets and mills in Northern California. It closed in 1975 after being out of business for over 30 years.
