One key reason for this move was that the new property would become available after Measure B passed through Marin County voters in 1998 funding road projects needed to support growth on both sides of I-280 as well as within millbrae itself . In addition to this new facility many other improvements were made including new sidewalks, driveway repairs/ resurfacing roadsides etc., notably improving access from I-280 to the Peninsula Park facilities making it easier for carspoolers or walkers who used transit into millbrae proper or vice versa . Finally there has been an influx of young professionals who commute out into SF Bay Area Some 60% or so of all workers employed here commute outside town either into Daly City or San Francisco . However despite these advantages mill brae remains relatively rural setting with most activities taking place within walking distance such as weekly farmers markets,, monthly bingo nights at local churches,.

The first Europeans to visit Millbrae were Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo and Gaspar de Villarreal on October 20, 1542. The area was part of the Mission San Francisco de Asís, founded in 1777 by Father Junipero Serra. By 1821, the mission had been abandoned and most of the land around it sold to private owners. In 1838, millersOnion and other farmers began construction of a sawmill on the south bank of Millbrae Creek. The mills operated until 1865 when they were replaced by a foundry that produced cannons for the California militia. In 1881, miller George Mueller started growing grapes at his winery on Millbrae Boulevard. In 1919, he changed the name to Mueller Bros., Incorporated and built a new winery on North First Street in what is now Downtown Milbrae. The company continued to produce wine until 1976 when it merged with Concord grape growers Company to form United Grape Growers International Incorporation. In 1984, United Grape Growers merged with Chivas Regal Brewing Company Limited of Canada to form Chivas Regal-United Grape Growers Ltd.).
