Gun magazines in Millbrae, California date back to the early 1800s. At that time, this small community was home to a few gunsmiths and their families. The first magazine in Millbrae was started by one of these men, Nathan Fenton. It served as a place for him and his family to shoot pistols and rifles. In 1824, another man, John William Peake purchased the property where the current town of Millbrae sits. He began to build a house on the property and put together a firearms collection that he exhibited at various shows around California. One of Peake's displays included items from Millbrae Magazine. In 1829, Peake married Anna Maria Kapp and moved into the new home with her. They continued to exhibit their guns and ammunition collection until his death in 1852. After Peake's death, his wife took over operation of the magazine while she continued to reside in Millbrae. From Anna Maria Kapp's ownership until circa 1860 when it passed onto her daughter Mrs Gertrude Wirtz (widow Hildebrandt), publications from the magazine were published monthly under the name "The Lady's Rifle Journal". Between 1860-1872 it was published three times per week under different names: "The Rifleman", "The Pistolero" and finally "Pistolero". Mrs Gertrude Wirtz sold her interest in The Lady's Rifle Journal in 1872 to Mr George Leland who changed its name back to "Millbrae Monthly Magazine". The magazine continued publication sporadically until 1897 when it went out of print due to low circulation levels combined with Prohibition Era restrictions on gun possession in America which led many people not be able to own firearms anymore

It became an armament manufacturer for both the US military & militaries of other countries such as France & Germany amongst others. In 1911, Colt merged with Remington Arms Company to create Remington-Colt Incorporated which remained headquartered in Amesbury MA until it moved to Springfield MA in 1958 where it remains today as part of Cerberus Capital Management LLC subsidiary Brady Bunch Holdings Incorporation). From 1898-1914 they also manufactured Automatic Weapons which later became NATO standard weapons like the Thompson submachine gun/light machinegun etc…. Millbrae is a small town in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 1,691 at the 2010 census. Millbrae is located on the east side of the San Joaquin River and its namesake creek. It is adjacent to Walnut Creek and Pacifica. The first mill in Millbrae was built by William Stephenson in 1868; it used water power from the river. By 1876, there were six mills in Millbrae; three were operated by farmers and three were run by mill owners. In 1892, a sawmill and gristmill were built; these became known as the "old mills". The last mill closed in 1957. As of 2010, only one house remains standing in Millbrae - it is owned by John Ladd who bought it for $2 million in 1978. Ladd has restored it to its original appearance with help from his family and friends. A post office was established at Millbrae on July 15, 1872, and remained until September 9, 1972; then it moved to nearby Pleasanton. The first store opened at what is now 3rd Street & Atherton Avenue on December 12th 1870 with merchandise from local farmers and lumberjacks brought downriver for sale locally — an early example of bus service between towns.. The store continued until 1903 when consolidation of local businesses led to the opening of Bay Area retailers such as Safeway next door which caused business to dwindle at the original Store until 1947 when they reopened under new ownership becoming a general store again until their closure in 1984 (now part of Macy's). In 1916 a school was established near present-day Fourth Street & Atherton Avenue where students would ride horses back&forth across village streets during morning hours before going into classes at Mountain View High School which replaced another school building that had been destroyed by fire two years earlier.. In 1923 Donnybrook Elementary School opened nearby on Third Street opposite current day Second Street providing instruction through 6th grade up to senior high school level while Mountain View High School provided all grades 7-12 with additions leading up through 8th grade including vocational training courses.. With World War II raging civilians began leaving their homes for jobs within commuting distance due to rationing however most residents returned home during later war years when production stopped

The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Millbrae were the Spanish, who used the area as a rancho. The first permanent residents were the Chinook people, who came from the north in the late 18th century. In 1853, John Sutter founded the town of Sutter's Fort on an expansion of his Rancho San Francisco beginning near present-day Redwood Shores. In 1864, Ulysses S. Grant named Millbrae after General James H. Millard and his army during the California Gold Rush. The mill was built by Captain George Wigglesworth and His Sons on a small stream called Upper Mill Creek which flows through today's town center. It began production in 1865 and continued until 1897 when it closed due to declining demand for flour from surrounding towns. In 1907, mill owner James Condon donated land to build a new high school that became known as Mills High School (later renamed California State Polytechnic University at Pomona). A year later, Mills Normal School opened nearby on lands donated by Condon and other business owners in celebration of Northern Californians becoming educated beyond their traditional farmlands. Millbrae remains one of Northern Californias most ethnically diverse communities with people from many different cultures living together in close proximity while still maintaining their unique identities or "cultures."
