The current name honors Drs John Wirt (1851-1925), Edward Calkins (1895-1978) and James Fenton (1892-1969). In 1926 he donated 3 acres () to become what is now civic center square (). Today's downtown area began as an agricultural district due to its proximity to water resources during early settler days near present day Highway 101A between San Rafael and Tiburon Streets SE This area later became known as North Beach because much of what is today North Beach originated here including First Baptist Church which dates back to 1872 according to street address book dated 1911 . Today much of this district has been redeveloped into Office Park/ Village Center with several high rise buildings along El Camino Real just south of Highway 101A across from Interstate 80

This allowed farmers from throughout Southern California to access lands east of Los Angeles for agriculture and ranching purposes. On December 12, 1881, James Purdy received patent #2154 for "A Establishment For The Improvement Of Rancho San Francisco de Asís". This parcel included much of what is now Millbrae Creek with some additional areas still being developed today such as Old Town off SR-1 north of Railroad Avenue). In 1902, the name changed to "Millbrae" when the creek's name change from Mission Creek to Adobe Creek due to strong opposition from local people who wanted their creek renamed Adobe Creek because that was how their ancestors had named it back in 1769 when they took possession of Rancho Adobe de la Salle near present-day Santa Ana City (it should be noted that this initial proposal by James Purdy did not lead to any actual development or construction taking place at Millbrae until many years later). On July 15th 1906 President Theodore Roosevelt made an official visit to Southern California and stopped in Atwater Village on Route 38 about 20 miles south of Pasadena which served as his summer home between 1907-1909 during his presidency; he also vacationed here sometimes during winter months nearby Invercargill Park.) Millbrae is located in the San Francisco Bay Area and was founded on December 12, 1867 by James W. Richardson as a lumber mill. The mill became a US Steel Corporation in 1951 and is now part of United Steelworkers Local 2994. In 1906, the mills were destroyed by fire, but later rebuilt. The company also manufactured locomotives for the California Central Railroad.
