By 1888, Menifee had renamed his home "Hollywood" after Hollywood actor William Hickey who had visited him in nearby Ontario while performing at the Arcademy Theatre. In 1916, Drury Lane Studios opened its doors in downtown Los Angeles and soon began producing movies such as "Birth of a Nation" and "Gone with the Wind". Thanks to this new industry, Menfeee's popularity grew quickly among Hollywood elites who would often stay here during their summer weekends between 1915-1920. In 1922, residents voted unanimously to incorporation into Riverside County where they currently reside today. At that time, it was one of only a few cities in southern California with an incorporated status (the others being West Covina and Garden City). The most significant event that took place during MENIFEE'S incorporation occurred on July 15th 1932 when Mayor Harry Sarnoff announced plans for Culver City proper to become an independent city through annexation by Menifee just days before Culver City's first election ever! With this announcement came much controversy as many questioned whether or not MENIFEE was really ready for independence - especially since it still relied heavily upon funding from Sarnoff & Co.. Nonetheless, MENIFEE persevered and successfully annexed Culver City just three years later on December 17th 1934! This marks another milestone in CITY OF MINDSTOWN'S long history as one of America's fastest growing metropolitan areas - something that has continued even unto this day! Morgan and his associates for $1 million. The company became known as Morgan-Manifee Citrus Growers, Inc., and continued to produce fruit until it merged with other citrus companies in 1978 to form Allied Citrus Corporation.
