The first settlers arrived at Menifee in 1886 and soon after began developing its infrastructure including a Post Office (1888), School (1890), Store (1892), blacksmith shop (1906) and houses (1907-1960). By 1907, there were also two churches: First Presbyterian Church which opened in 1908 and Second Presbyterian Church which followed in 1912. During World War II, men from throughout California volunteered their time and resources to help build military airfields across California; Menifee was no exception. On December 12th 1941 local residents gathered together to raise money for war supplies by selling candy bars from their homes as well as giving away food items like applesauce that they had collected during the winter months
