Menifee is a small town in the San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 3,829 at the 2010 census. Menifee is located on the eastern edge of Riverside County and is bordered by the city of Riverside to the south and east, Cathedral City to the north and west, and Fontana to the northwest. The first people known to live in Menifee were Native Americans who inhabited what is now Menifee Valley from about 1775-1800. The Spanish Mission San Gabriel Arcangelico was founded in 1834 by Father José Altieri and Friar Francisco Xavier Reyes near what is now Menifee Valley. In 1881, Menifee was organized as a town when it was annexed by Riverside County. During World War II, portions of Menifee were destroyed by bombing raids from Japanese bombers during Operation Fireball and Operation Sundowner. Residents rebuilt using local materials including lumber that had been saved from destruction at Pearl Harbor. Businesses reopened after the war with new names such as "Lumberman's Warehouse" or "Plymouth Home Hardware." In 1957, Menireecity successfully petitioned for incorporation as a city with its own government which became effective on January 1st of that year under Mayor Harry Woods (1927-2013). On July 14th of that same year voters approved Measure E – an act creating much needed public services including fire protection; police services; streetlights; trash collection; water systems; insurance rates & more! The incorporation process continued with amendments through 2013 until finally becoming an incorporated city on January 1st 2014! I would like to begin my paper by telling you about one man who made a significant impact on our community during his lifetime: Mayor Harry Woods! Mr. Woods served our community for over 50 years before retiring in 2013 after being elected mayor four times! He has been an integral part of our success story as mayor and I believe he will continue making a positive impact into his final days here at City Hall! Before coming to office Mr. Woods worked many different jobs throughout his life including working for both private companies & government entities making him very familiar w/the various aspects Of Public Policy/Government Operations! During his time as mayor we saw many changes happen within our community some good while others didn’t go so well but all together we achieved great things because of him! This includes accomplishments like developing bike lanes downtown which helped reduce traffic congestion & keeping men’s cents off property taxes thereby helping keep Our Community running smoothly today! Lastly I wantto mention how important it is for mayors to stay focused on their goals even if they don’t receive support from everyone around them especially when there are major decisions or projects pending!!
