A fire destroyed the old high school on December 1, 1926. A new high school was built in 1928 and named after Mrs. Caryl Ewing. In 1962, an elementary school for grades K-6 was established in Maywood. In 1984, a middleschool for grades 7-8was also established in Maywood. In 1995, a highschool for grades 9-12was also established in Maywood .

Maywood is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of California, located about 20 miles east of Fresno. The population was 5,309 at the 2010 census. It is part of Tulare County. The first people to live in what is now Maywood were the Hahns who settled there in 1847. They were followed by the Wickershams and later by the Maywoods. Charles Fenton purchased land in 1881 and founded Fentonville Cement Co., which still owns a large chunk of north-central Maywood today. Maywood was platted on November 10, 1887, by George Prentiss and others under the name "Meadowvale". The original village had a post office, hotel and six stores. In 1896, it became an incorporated community with a school and fire department. On July 1, 1907, it gained its present name when incorporation passed through an act of Congress as required by state law for towns with more than 2,000 residents to have their own name chosen from among those submitted for approval by town officers. In 1931-1932 an attempt was made to grow rice on farms around Maywood but due to lack of water availability only hay was grown instead; this operation failed because most farmers chose not to irrigate their crops during difficult rains that year. On January 17th 1935 local residents successfully petitioned Sacramento County to annex some areas lying within their jurisdiction including parts of present-day Tulare County as well as portions of Kern County after years of campaigning led by Mayor John Chappellis Jr.. This annexation created enormous new development within what had been rural Maywood limits – all while bypassing many smaller communities situated just outside its borders – making it one oneOf California's fastest growing municipalities over the next several decades; meanwhile further south growth continued unabated in neighboring Tulare County until that county's merger into California on January 3rd 1994). Today much like then (and continuing into the 21st century), much acreage remains undeveloped within present day Tulare and Kern Counties despite repeated requests from citizens for development; this has resulted in numerous complaints from nearby resident groups about issues such as traffic congestion or envy-inspiring views from towering Chain Bridge developments looming just beyond their neighborhoods’ borders!
