In 1911, Maywood was a small town in Northern California. It had a single store, the Maywood Hardware, and an average of one visitor per day. The store's only product was hardware, but it soon became known for its optical products. In 1916, the Maywood Hardware began selling an eyeglasses line called The Maywood Collection. This line featured high-quality lenses and frames made from top-quality materials. By 1922, The Maywood Collection had become well-known and offered great value for money. With this success, theMaywood Hardware decided to expand its business into other areas of retailing such as clothing and home goods. In 1934, theMayWOODHardware opened their own building in downtown Los Angeles which would serve as their main business center until they sold it in 1984 to Macy's Incorporated. Today, you can still find some of the original merchandise from TheMayWOODHardware at various retailers around the country including Macy's themselves!

The name "Maywood" may be a familiar one to some, but the town located in Central California is little known to most. The small community was founded in 1853 when wagon trains arrived on the present day route of Interstate 5. Today, Maywood is an unincorporated community within Contra Costa County and has a population of only around 1,000 residents. The first permanent settlers in what is now Maywood were farmers who arrived from Illinois in 1851. By 1857, they had built a log cabin and started trading with the nearby villages of Martinez and Moraga. In 1860, an ad in The Enterprise newspaper announced the opening of a school for children in the small community. That same year saw the founding of the American Legion post near Spring Street and Pacific Avenue. By 1865, there were three churches in Maywood – Methodist (founded by Reverend James Hargrave), Lutheran (founded by Pastor August Wilhelm Müller) and Catholic (founded by Father John McNamara). A store was also established that year at Third Street and Western Avenue. In 1868, Maywood became part of Contra Costa County when it was organized as part of Rancho San Ramon settlements east of Stockton. At that time there were only about 2,500 people living within its boundaries; however, by 1870 there had grown to over 10,000 residents within Contra Costa County alone as a result of waves of migration from Southern California during this period. After years of growth due to new construction and population growth throughout Contra Costa County – including Maywood – it came as no surprise when city officials proclaimed their intention to annex the small town on December 3rd 1907 pursuant to article III Section 2(b) of the City Charter which stated: "The Mayor shall have power To annex any incorporated town or village therein if he so desires." After much deliberation by city commissioners and debate among local citizens alike following petitions submitted by representatives from both communities – as well as surveys done earlier that year – it was decided that incorporation would not be allowed because none met all necessary standards set forth in articles I through IV section 8 thereof; instead annexation would take place through platting proceedings which would allow for more public input into plans for annexation should future changes occur such as increased development rates or changing demographics within each community involved therein. Maywood's annexation took place on December 3rd 1907 under these conditions with just under 4 percenthattanization taking place between then-local resident Angelo Lazzaroughesi along with his brother-in-law Salvatore Filippone who served as mayor pro tempore; moreover incorporation records reflect that just over $1 million worth of real estate transactions were conducted during those years resulting in roughly 740 homes being erected across 258 blocks encompassing 6 miles² including downtown square footage measuring nearly 119 acres² making it one of largest land purchases ever made outside Los Angeles County at that time! Aspects such as grade separation/widening streets/alterations thereto etc., remain relatively unchanged today despite rapid urban sprawl throughout much Central Valley area since then; despite this seeming divergence many aspects surrounding day-to-day life continue Compliance with state zoning regulations & ordinances governing character & design features particularity housing developments!

Despite these challenges – which include occasional natural disasters like earthquakes or hurricanes – Maywood remains an active community that strives towards social cohesion through events like its annual pancake breakfast or summer fireworks display.
Maywood was first settled by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in 1881. The Maywood post office was established in 1886. In 1907, the city of Maywood was incorporated. In 1938, the last of the original atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad tracks were abandoned in Maywood by the company. The city developed gradually as a farming community with a population of about 100 people in 1950. By 1960, the population had increased to over 1,000 people and it continued to grow until 1990 when it reached 2,500 residents.
