Maywood is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,830 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield–Chico–Redding Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first post office in Maywood was established on March 15, 1879. The name derived from the fact that all of the original land for the town was purchased from individuals by the government in order to create agricultural lands for settlers. There were no schools until after World War II and most residents attended private or parochial schools until after that time. Maywood has been home to many different families over its history including those who founded Bakersfield and Chico; as well as various ranchers, farmers and others who have called it their home over time. One such resident is former U.S. President Ronald Reagan who spent his childhood summers here before going on to attend college in nearby Lancaster while also serving as Governor of California from 1975-1981 and then President George H.W. Bush from 1989-1993 before leaving office due to term limits set forth by law

Over time, other companies started making their own versions of this type of firearm mount. In 1912, SAE Incorporated began making rifles with this kind of firearm mount called the SAE 95mm Pistol Swivler Rifle Mount (pictured). It was designed to allow riflemen to fire their weapons while they rode on horses! This was an important advancement for cavalry warfare!

Maywood is a small town in Kern County, California. It was founded in 1879 by Captain George May and his family. The present-day town was originally called "Emmons" after General John Emmons, who led the Mexican-American War and became a United States military leader. In 1892, the name of the town changed to Maywood after Captain George May's wife, Maywooda Hinton maytree. At its peak in the 1920s, Maywood had a population of around 1,500 people. The population plummeted during World War II as many residents left for war or other reasons. Today, there are just over 100 residents living in the original community that faced near extinction during the war years. The history of Maywood goes back to 1879 when Captain George May settled on land that he purchased from Rancho San Felipe de las Flores y la Comunidad de Los Nietos y el Cuchillo (Rancho San Felipe) east of present-daymemory Lane in Kern County. He built his own home and gift shop on what is now Fourth Street in what is now known as the old community of Emmons which he named for his wife's mother - Miss Hinton Emma (Hinton). On July 4th, 1881,Captain George married Miss Hinton Emma at their home while they were still living at Emmons Village east of Fourth Street which they also renamed "Emmons" after Colonel David Hume Emerson (1825-1911), Governor of California under President Abraham Lincoln (1865-1876). Mrs. Emerson gave birth to two daughters: Mandy and Nellie and Mr. Emerson took them all away with him when he enlisted into Company K1st Battalion 5th Infantry Regiment California Volunteer Infantry on April 15 1861 during the American Civil War at age 26 years old - one day shy of seven months old! When hostilities ended on April 6 1865 LtCol Emerson reenlisted into Company I8th Regiment California Veteran Infantry at Camp Goodwin outside Sacramento City whereupon he was honorably discharged three days later on April 28 1865 with rank Major! After discharge from service CaptEmerson returned home to marry MrsMandy Hinton on October 12 1865 at their ranch house located near present day Donner Lake Road off Highway 99A between White Sands State Park & Encinitas! Maywood, California was founded in 1868 by John L. May and named for the may trees that grew near their plantation. The town was first located on the east side of Sacramento River, but it moved to its present location in 1892 when a railroad was built through the area. The town developed into a small agricultural community with homes and businesses scattered among the tall trees and lush fields of Maywood Ranch. In 1916, Maywood became one of fourteen towns consolidated into the city of Sacramento.
