Marysville is a small city in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 8,436 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno–Madera area. The name honors Mrs. John Fenton (1822-1900), who donated land to make the town possible and also founded a school in 1875 which still operates today as Marysville College. The first permanent settler in what would become Marysville was Captain George Rogers Clark, who arrived on November 25, 1776 with his family from Rhode Island when American independence was proclaimed. He named his new arrival's ranch "Marysville" after his mother's maiden name, Elizabeth Woolridge of Portsmouth, England. For years no one knew why this particular name had been chosen - it may have been because it sounded like a place where lovely women could go for shopping or tea? Clark's heirs built more than 30 homes on their original Rancho Santa Fe de las Pulgas until 1872 when they sold all but two of them to Emigrant Land Company settlers from New York and Massachusetts under the leadership of James Irvine. Home ownership within the limits set by Captain Clark never ceased until 1922 when an act by then Mayor Edwin Freeman abolished shared home ownership within city limits and limited housebuilding to single families only! In that year Packinghouse Square was added to downtown Marysville making it possible for residents to enjoy easy access to everything without leaving their homes! In 1881 James Irvine established what became known as North Pacific Railroad Depot #2 just north of downtown on Railroad Avenue which served as a stop on trains traveling between Fresno and Tehachapi Counties. This depot continued serving passengers through 1972 when Amtrak took over passenger service here from the Southern Pacific Railroad which closed its line here in 1982). On February 15th 1902 four brothers - Jens Rasmussen (1901-1985), Ole Rasmussen (1902-1986), Geertruid Rasmussen (1903-1987) and Harry Rasmussen (1905-1988) - organized themselves into the Independent Businessmen's Association Incorporated looking to develop business opportunities around town while avoiding any type of monopoly with other businesses operating in close proximity thereto Such as those operated by Donahue Brothers Storekeepers Syndicate Limited Partnership including Donahue Drugstore & Liquor store located across Railroad Avenue about 100 yards west of depot; Mager Hardware store situated east of Depot off Ofcrest Road about 500 yards south; Hush Puppy restaurant located across Frome Street about half a mile east; Masonic Temple NoHo now known as First Baptist Church building erected 1895 using stone quarried near buildings southeast corner Ofcrest Road & Main Street

The first post office in Marysville was opened in 1858. It was located at what is now known as Fourth Street and Winchester Avenue. The town went through a few name changes before settling on its present name in 1873, after Mary Poppins’ home town of Mildenhall, England. In 1916, two brothers named Harry and Roy Estes purchased land north of the town for a cattle farm that would become one of the largest dairy operations in Northern California. The Estes family continued to own and operateMarysville Dairy until it closed down in 1984. Today, part of the property remains within the boundaries of Marysville while other parts are used for industrial purposes such as a chemical plant and a power plant
