Marysville is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 7,849 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield metropolitan area. The history of Marysville goes back to 1879 when two brothers, George and Hiram Godwin, founded a sawmill on the San Joaquin River. In 1906, Marysville became one of the first towns in Kern County to be incorporated as a village. On November 3rd of that year, voters approved incorporation by an 82% margin over a proposal from the Kern County Board of Supervisors to incorporate without their consent. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson made Marysville his summer home and frequently visited it during his presidency. He died there on July 4th of that year after spending three weeks visiting various parts of California. Reverend James Aiken dedicated what is now known as Park Avenue in honor of President Wilson on July 4th 1921. Mrs. Aiken donated $10 million for the project which included four blocks long and wide with five streets running in each direction; today's avenue runs parallel to US 101 between downtown and Giddings Park (now part of City College). On December 12th 1922, Mayor Geo Fries set up shop in a small theater located on Third Street within sight of the original sawmill site where he would continue business until 1933 when he moved his operations out into larger quarters at 906 North First Street which still stands today as Stonington Hall Hotel & Conference Center! successes continued for many years following Mayor Fries’ leadership including: establishment/maintaining city services such as fire protection; creating/establishing streetlights; establishing parkland (later renamed Giddings Park%); initiating new construction projects such as Mountain View High School (1935), Hearst Ranch (1939) and current day Raymond Avenue Elementary School; culminating with election victory by Mayor Harry Haggerty in 1951 against incumbent John Larkin! In 1957-58 an addition was built onto present day Raymond Avenue Elementary School making it one block long with two streets running parallel unto each other becoming First Street and Elm Street resulting in then current name “Marysville Square” now home to several businesses within walking distance including KFC restaurant . . . finally removing all but one store from main street thereby reducing busyness throughout town center resultant in increased property values adjacent to school !!

Some important aspects of its cultural heritage include its annual art festival which features internationally renowned painters and sculptors from around the world; and its traditional corn festival which includes numerous cultural events including concerts, carnivals, agricultural fairs, and dance contests among other activities
