Gun chokes were used throughout the history of Martinez, California. The earliest reference to gun chokes is from 1851 when a cannonball was found with a gunshot residue at an old mill. Gun chokes were also mentioned in 1861 when Confederate General John C. Fremont used them on Union soldiers in the Battle of Buena Vista. The first gun choke patent was filed in 1892 by Halsey & Co., manufacturers of firearms and explosives in New York City. Gun chokes continued to be used until the early 1960s, when they were replaced by stun guns as their primary weapon choice. Stun guns are less dangerous than traditional gun chokes, but they have not been fully accepted among law enforcement professionals as their main Weapon Choice for defensive purposes due to their difficulty using them effectively against assailants who are already unarmed or holding something other than a firearm.

These devices must be inserted into the gas Port on your rifle before you can fire! Gun chokes with plastic or rubber where used for shotguns or revolvers must first be fitted with an aftermarket shotgun muffler before use

Martinez, California is a small city in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 37,821 at the 2010 census. It is the seventh most populous city in the United States and has been growing rapidly since it was founded in 1853 as an agricultural center near Stockton. Martinez became a major port of entry for immigrants to the United States during the late 19th century and early 20th century. In recent years, its economy has grown mainly due to its status as a bedroom community for San Francisco. The first Europeans to visit Martinez were Spanish missionaries in 1602. The first permanent European settlers arrived in 1853 with families from Mexico City under the leadership of José Joaquín de Osorio y Pineda. Jedediah Smith explored and mapped the area around Martinez in 1836; he named it Levisa after his superior, Captain José Levisa of Monterrey province, who had aided him on his mapping expedition that year. In 1849, two brothers by the name of Humboldt emigrated from Bernardo O'Higgins's Chile via Stockton and established what would become known as "El Rancho Grande" (The Great Ranch). One brother began farming while another built stores and other infrastructure including a sawmill and gristmill on what is now Cache Creek Boulevard near downtown Martinez. By 1860, El Rancho Grande included more than 4 miles (6 kilometers) of land east of present-day downtown Martinez along Cache Creek Boulevard between Prado Avenue and Spring Street In 1860, Governor Manuel Miranda ordered John Sutter to establish Yuba River Colony just south of today's north end of Highway 24 where Sutter built his first log cabin about 12 miles (19 kilometers) northeast of modern-day Martinez on what is now called "Sutter Hill". The town later grew up around this outpost which provided goods and services to travelers passing through Yuba River Colony on their way westward or eastward over the Sierra Nevada Mountains
In 1871, Alvaro Martinez established a ranch on the San Gabriel Mountains in present-day Martinez, California. By 1902, he had developed a major cotton crop and was one of the largest landowners in southern California. In 1912, he sold his land to The Coca-Cola Company for $3 million.
