In 1794 Gottfried Leibniz developed what would eventually be called the “Aurum cannon” – an air-cooled muzzle loading rifle using metal powder instead of oakum – which finally allowed guns to be used close up against infantry targets with greater success than ever before! This new development led to what are now called “magazine rifles”; this is because when reloading these weapons you remove all but one cartridge from each magazine and place them in another magazine located somewhere else on your firearm (usually behind or above the trigger guard) so that you can fire again quickly if necessary without having to take your hands off your weapon! The current Naval Station Pier 15 dates back to 1951 when the newly constructed pier replaced an older wooden pier that had been destroyed by a fire. It is now used as a park with playgrounds, tennis courts, and a beach which can be reached by foot or bike ride from downtown Marina. In addition to its role as a naval station and Marine barracks during World War II, then-Marina also served as the location for two major oil refineries during the late 1950s - Texaco Refining & Storage Company Inc., now ChevronTexaco Corporation; and Marathon Oil Company's merged refinery operations unit Bay City Refinery on Southport Boulevard next to Marina High School before it closed in 1984 due to environmental concerns about Bay City's heavydirty oil production facilities adjacent to shoreline wetlands south of town.
