A second store building was erected on Main Street east ofpresent-day downtown in 1922 by J C White & Son printing agents merchants owners Harry Weisman (1873-1951) and Julius Weisman (1883-1960). The white frame store fronts were replaced with red brick buildings during World War II due to air bombings which destroyed many structures within a radius around Manteca; however they remain extant as evidence of early development in this area. In 1925, an electric light system went into operation across much of eastern Tehama County including what is now Manteca; this marked an important milestone for local civic life as self reliance increasingly replaced dependence upon outside assistance for goods and services’ continued growth until well into the 21st century
