Manhattan Beach, California has a rich history with firearms. The area was first settled by Native Americans in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In 1907, the city of Manhattan Beach passed an ordinance regulating handguns. This ordinance became effective on October 1, 1907. It banned handgun ownership by anyone under the age of 21 years old and required any person owning a handgun to have a permit from the City Council. In 1934, Mayor John F. Kennedy signed into law an ordinance increasing gun control in New York City. This ordinance increased gun regulation in New York City to include regulations on handguns. Manhattan Beach followed suit and passed its own ordinance banning handguns on November 3, 1935. However, this ordinance did not become effective until February 9, 1936 when it was amended to add a provision that only pistols would be regulated under this amendment. The 1934 NYC Gun Regulations were modeled after the 1930 Los Angeles Gun Regulations which were also modeled after the National Firearms Act of 1934 (Pt II). The purpose of these ordinances was to reduce crime and make it easier for law enforcement officers to confiscate weapons from criminals who had acquired them without proper legal process or due diligence.
Manhattan Beach is a town in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 1,902 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Pacific Coast Highway about 15 miles (24 km) east of San Francisco and 30 miles (48 km) south of Santa Barbara. Manhattan Beach has been claimed by both sides of the continental divide since its founding and as such is one of only two towns in California that straddles both coasts. The name "Manhattan" comes from ""Manchu"", an ethnic group from eastern China who were expelled to North America in the 18th century. The first European settlers arrived in 1792 with Captain James Cook's ship "Endeavour". They named their new community after Prince George, Duke of York (later King George III), who had also been expelled from China and had settled near Monterey Bay onranch Rancho de la Purísima Concepción de los Angeles y Gaviota (). In 1847, when Gold was discovered at Monterey Bay, Manhattan Beach became part of Mexico City before becoming part of US Mission San José de Asís under Spanish rule in 1849. In 1875, when Ventura County was created from parts of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties, Manhattan Beach became part of it. By 1907 it had become an unincorporated community within Ventura County. In 1920 it became an incorporated town with a population exceeding 1,000 people; however this number declined rapidly over the next few decades due to commuting problems caused by Route 101 being built just north of town along what is now State Route 54 In 1970s–1980s a large number of residents moved into new towns which were established nearby including Morro Bay and Carlsbad However during recent years there has been a resurgence in development around downtown manhattan beach with plans for high-rise housing developments as well as restaurants and bars

Venice Pier was originally built as a wharf for shipping products needed for processing in nearby Wilmington, California and then called Wilmington Harbor because it connected Wilmington with Venice through open water. In 1888, the pier was renamed Venice Boulevard after Italian Prime Minister Vittorio Emanuele II who donated land for the development next door to his palace on Mulberry Street. In 1909, Hollywood movie star Norma Talmadge built her home at 825 Ocean Boulevard (now known as Norma Talmadge House). She used part of her fortune from Paramount Pictures to help finance her dream of building a house on this site which she named after herself – NormaTalmadgeHouseMulberry StreetVerdant Avenue). When Hollywood moved out of Culver City starting in the late 1940s (following World War II),Norma TalmadgeHouse remained unoccupied until 1984 when it was rented by then-Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and currently serves as Mayor Eric Garcetti's mayoral office suite After being vacant for more than 20 years Folsom Street between Ocean Boulevard and Mulberry Street became homeless due to lack of maintenance; though management made offers totaling $50 million over 10 years to address this problem but no action was taken even after protests from residents including Mayor Villaraigosa himself On October 1st 2009 local media outlet KABC ran into front yard camera footage that they allege showed developers making offers totaling $50 million dollars over 10 years but noaction had been taking place; police were called however nothing happened
