Lynwood is a city located in the northeastern corner of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 97,752 at the 2010 census. It is known for its agricultural and wine industries. Lynwood has two gun stores - one on Grand Avenue and one on Lankershim Boulevard near Century City. The first guns ever made in Lynwood were pistols, revolvers and shotguns. The handguns were made by John Cockerill & Son, a company that specialized in sporting rifles. In 1892, Wm Henshaw & Sons began making firearms in Lynwood as well - initially just pistols but soon expanding into rifles and shotguns as well. In 1911, the American Arms Company was founded to produce rifles for the military forces of Southern California including United States Marines stationed in Imperial Japan at Port Arthur during World War I. American Arms would continue manufacturing firearms here until it merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1923. During Prohibition (1937-1946), gun production increased significantly due to demand from bootleggers and speakeasies which created a need for reliable firearms for law enforcement purposes along with necessary supplies like ammunition and parts required to operate these illegal businesses. Many of these guns still remain manufacturer's models today! In 1953, Atherton Firearms Manufacturing was established here by Amishmen from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania who had come to Lynwood during prohibition looking for new opportunities to sell their products while also training local police officers how to use their weapons effectively . Atherton would become one of the largest firearm manufacturers in Southern California before being acquired by Browning Corporation in 1969; however, Atherton Firearms continues to make handguns here today under the name "Atherton Firearms USA".

The history of Lynwood can be traced back to 1873 when the town of Woodside was established east of San Francisco on land that had been part of Coyote Hills Rancho de las Pulgas de Quiebrajontepec grant granted to José Joaquin Moraga on November 3, 1847 by Governor Pio Pico under Mexican rule as part of Rancho San Lorenzo del Monte.[1][2] On October 15, 1865,[3] during the American Civil War,[4] two Californios named James Hargrave[5] and Hiram Sibley[6] purchased from private owner John Lynch some 5 acres (20 m2) near present day West Price Street for $200 cash plus 10% interest payable annually until sold or dedicated for public use – this property became known as Hartford Park after Hartfordshire County Connecticut where Hargrave family later resided at their country home which they referred to as “Hartford Park”. At its peak there were 150 residents within what would become Lynwood; today only 8 remain with average household size decreasing from 2.9 persons to 1 person over time while annexed into other municipalities like San Jose & Saratoga Counties
