Lynwood, California is a city located in the county of Los Angeles, and is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The population was estimated to be over 100,000 as of 2010. Lynwood has a long history with firearms, dating back to at least 1892 when it became an unincorporated community named Rattlesnake Gulch on the edge of present day Lynwood Hills. It wasn't until 1934 that the town's name was changed to its current moniker: Lynwood. In 1893, Rattlesnake Gulch (now Lynwood) was unincorporated and located on the edge of present day Lynwood Hills. In 1934, it was renamed toLynwood after its incorporation into the City of Los Angeles County. Since then, gun enthusiasts have come here for all sorts of firearm-related events and activities; from NRA meetings and qualifiers to target shootings and more general rifle shooting competitions. The community has even hosted their own version of America's Cup which features both sailing and rifle shooting contests every year since 1978!

In 1907, Marshal sold the land to James Wickersham, who built a small town called Lynwood on it. In 1951, the Town of Lynwood incorporated as a city.
Lynwood is a city located in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 56,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The city was founded in 1915 by General James A. Reeves and became an incorporated municipality on February 14, 1916. The original Lynwood post office operated from 1915 to 1919. After his death in 1916, General James A. Reeves' widow donated land in Lynwood to create a new post office that would serve the community for future years; it opened on February 14, 1916 under the name of "Reevesville". In 1922, when Vernon and Santa Clara Counties were merged into Ventura County as well as Lynwood's incorporation into Ventura County, local officials decided to change the city's name to honor General James A. Reeves himself - although this decision has never been ratified by the general’s descendants or others who may have influenced it - especially since he had no children living locally at that time (he died in 1914). On July 1, 1922 – just three months after becoming an official city –Lynwood changed its name again to "Reevesville" after another general named James Averell Reeves who had also fought during World War I and received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroism while fighting with distinction near Belleau Wood (northwest of Paris). On November 6th 1920 voters approved a charter amendment which made lynching illegal throughout California except within certain counties where it continued legally as “a peculiar pastime among some whites which they enjoy without fear or inconvenience” according to then-City Attorney Harry Wachtel; however laws against lynching still applied outside of these counties In 1924 Mayor Fletcher Proctor repealed all ordinances regulating interracial marriage because “the idea of having any negro living amongst us does not seem very desirable” even though prior thereto such ordinances had been passed unanimously by City Councilmember Proctor himself; this led many people within Lynwood and other nearby cities who felt discriminated against due to their race/ethnicity seeking legal recourse through state law enforcement officials rather than face discrimination themselves In 1925 African Americansmith Charles Durden moved from San Pedro Heights in South Pasadena into what is now Lynwood following discriminatory housing practices there that excluded Blacks from purchasing homes . Durden brought his case before Municipal Court Judge Hargrave but ultimately lost because prejudice against Blacks persisted despite rulings by higher courts claiming Engel v Pape (1927) showed that public policy should be based upon considerations beyond race
