On January 27, 1907 officials met at the former home office building on Lankershim Boulevard near Venice Boulevard where they decided upon plans for incorporation into what would become DowntownSouthPasadena with a library and stockyards as well as football fields for recreation use being built along Lankershim Boulevard between Florence Drive and Vincent Street named after members or friends of Mayor John Fenton (later Sheriff). Streets naming rights were awarded to various businesses including Jiffy Lube Company Refrigerator Store & Service Department Store (now been replaced by Staples Center), Wernick’s Hardware Company meat market &feed store (now Arena Stadium), Rheem Electric Engineering Company waterworks company powerhouse & workshops; Wernick’s Hardware Store still stands today across from Staples Center off Ventura Blvd., now operated by laCroix cocktails . . . All this activity took place while residents continued living on Lankershim Boulevard west side near Highland Avenue until 1912 when they moved into new homes built east side parallel to Vinegar Hill Road called West Hills; these developments are still visible today although their names have been changed many times such as Laurel Canyon Shopping center which opened in 1984 down La Brea Ave from Beverly Hills High School which closed down in 1988). In 1916 agreement was reached among Representatives Ed Hamlin(D-LA)and Clifton Keyes(D-Santa Monica)to form League Of America Football Associations with goal beingTo promote amateurism over professionalism In 1917 Lynceum Theater burned down making it necessary for additional fire equipment put out streetlights throughout town On November 281920 voters passed referendum approving merger with neighbouring city South Pasadena effective January 1 1921 With effect from then onwards alterations can only take place withinLancaster Park District bounded by Roosevelt Way Northwest/Vinegar Hill Road Northeast/Western Ave./Hollywood Blvd./Lake View Terrace Southeastern corner thereof

In 1907, Lynwood became the first city in California to be incorporated as a result of Proposition 8, which repealed section of the California Constitution that limited marriage to between one man and one woman. The city experienced significant growth following World War II, when it became home to both the U.S. Military Air Forces Auxiliary Base and the Los Angeles County Airport. However, Lynwood's prosperity gradually faded after the late 1990s recession hit America hardest, with unemployment rates reaching 30%. In 2003, local officials approved plans for a large new development called "Century City" that would have replaced much of Lynwood's downtown area with high-rise buildings and acres of parkland. Despite intense opposition from residents who felt their homes would be destroyed or displaced, the project ultimately came to fruition and has since resulted in increased crime rates in Lynwood.
