Lynwood is a small town in Southern California, just north of Los Angeles. It was founded in 1909 by Gunnery Sergeant Harry Atkinson and his wife, Elise. The town quickly became known for its firearms manufacturing and ammunition-related businesses. In the early 1920s, Atkinson began importing arms from Europe and selling them back to the United States. His business grew so rapidly that he decided to move his factory to Lynwood. The new plant soon became one of the most important firearms manufacturers in the country. Atkinson's company also produced a variety of ammunition products, including hunting and target rounds. In 1939, he donated 2 million rounds of ammunition to help fight World War II. His donations helped equip American forces with some of the best weapons known at the time. The war ended shortly after Atkinson's death, but his legacy remains strong today: his company continues to produce high-quality ammunition products right here in Lynwood!

Lynwood was founded as an agricultural community in 1907 by Japanese Americans who had been interned during World War II. It became a city in 1959 and has since grown to be one of Southern California's most populous cities with over 100,000 residents. Lynwood is located near the intersection of Interstate 5 and State Route 91. Lynwood is named after Lynnfield Township in Massachusetts where many of its early settlers were born. In 1907, when the area was still part of San Bernardino County, four Japanese American farmers from Lynnfield donated land for what would become Lynwood. The name "Lynwood" originated from these donations and not from any natural resources such as woods or freshwater lakes that might have been available on the site at the time. The first people to live in what became Lynwood were two families who rented land from David Laney and John Kappeler along with their children Willa (1905), Harry (1907), Dorothy (1910), Josephine (1920), Roy (1924) and Betty (baptized December 16th 1922). These immigrants came via ship from Japan on July 14th 1906 and arrived in Angel Island Naval Shipyard before being transferred to Terminal Island Naval Shipyard for conversion into tents before finally being transported by railcar to Long Beach.[1] The town began as a small agricultural community that grew rapidly due to its location next to water supplies for irrigation agriculture and also because it offered easy access to whaling vessels docking at Long Beach because it bordered Onancock Bay on both sides. By 1909, there were more than 100 residents living in lynwoods including 20 farmers, 10 fishermen, 4 salesmen and 2 mechanics; all working together for local businesses such as banks,[2][3] stores[4], livery services[5], garage space[6] and service stations which served motorists traveling between downtown Los Angeles/Long Beach[]and various nearby townships like Downey [7]
