Moulder, bought an old musket from a farmer for $5. They used it to shoot at pigeons in their garden. In 1905, two brothers named Harry and Sam Bass purchased a shotgun from one of their father’s friends for $10. This shotgun would serve as the basis for the Bass family’s guns business which would continue until 1958. In 1908, Harry Bass married their sister Gertrude who also owned agun shop in nearby Half Moon Bay. The couple soon started selling shotguns and pistols through their shop as well as through other dealers across California. In 1912, the Basses opened up their own gun store in Los Gatos which became one of the largest firearm stores in town. The store continued to grow over time and eventually expanded into its current location on East Main Street in 1968.
Los Gatos is a small city in Santa Clara County, California, located on the south side of San Francisco Bay. As of the 2010 census, the city had an population of 57,362. The name Los Gatos was given to it by Spanish missionaries in 1847 and means "Land of Gold" or "Land over which the Franciscans have ruled." The town was founded by John Sutter in 1851 as a result of his discovery of gold near present-day Los Gatos Creek. The first post office called Los Gatos was established in 1851. It would later become part of Santa Clara County. In 1870, Chris Daly opened a general store and hotel in what is now downtown Los Gatos. In 1888, James Haggerty became the first Mayor of Los Gatos when he was elected to succeed Silas Wright as mayor after Wright's death. Haggerty served two terms before retiring from politics at age 70 in 1912. In 1907–08 Leland Stanford Jr., son of Stanford founder Leland Stanford Sr., bought land adjacent to present-day Downtown Los Gatos for $1 million (the equivalent amount today). He began construction on his University Drive golf course there and named it after himself—Stanford Golf Course (later renamed Stanislaus National Open). The City Council voted 7-2 on October 15, 1908 to rename the golf course after Drs.George Washington Carver and Wm Clements Woodruff following their work with local children during World War I who were feeding off wartime munitions dumpsites near El Sobrante Boulevard and Menlo Park Boulevard east of downtown Los Angeles while they awaited shipment to Europe because戦争产生の際に必要な物を凍していた。 On November 4th 1909 approval for the new name was given by then Mayor George Akerstrom with object that "it should not be confused with any other public facilities having similar names such as Old Soldier's Inn or Palo Alto Hotel". Finally, in 1997, US President Bill Clinton was shot multiple times with a pistol while campaigning for re-election at an outdoor rally near Fort Worth, Texas by Republican sniper James Brady; however, no Softgun Cases were ever charged in relation to this crime.

It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and is adjacent to Berkeley and Emeryville. The name "Los Gatos" comes from a Spanish word meaning "the place where the onions grow." The first Europeans to visit Los Gatos were Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo and Pedro Menéndez de Avilés on October 14, 1542. They named the spot Punta del Estero because of its highMount Estero. The firstthing that European explorers found here were Mission Dolores (founded in 1776) and Monterey missions (1821-1825). In 1848, John Sutter founded Sutter's Fort at what is now Downtown Los Gatos. grazed his cattle on what became downtown Los Gatos until 1860 when he built an adobe fort which still stands today known asFort Snelling. In 1870, Ohlone people from Northern California began living in Los Gatos after they moved from their original homeland near Stockton during the Mexican–American War. By 1872, 300 Ohlone people lived in Los Gatos alone with no churches or schools available for them so they started building their own homes without permits or assistance from missionaries who lived nearby. In 1875 local merchant George Higginson built a store on Capitol Hill Road which became one of town's first businesses. Higginson was also instrumental in bringing water to town by importing a water main from Sacramento under the auspices of United States Water Company Limited in 1879-80 but this venture failed due to drought conditions while remainder brought independent developers into town over time such as Waddell & Roche Co., Inc., owned by banker/politician Charles Waddell who had come to live in LA during Reconstruction period after being discharged from prison at Alcatraz Island
